  1. Good job Andrea for trash talking about a winner like Jacinda because she could get pissed off at you and go on to put 60% on National you’ve got to kill winners with kindness love Y’know every time a winner does something good you’ve just got to say good game ma’am.

  2. Let them burn.
We have been so poorly served for some years there is approximately zero sympathy for stuff or nz herald.
RNZ no longer has my support as some sort of woke echo chamber to newsroom with no balance.
If we want state media – which is great in theory- start from scratch, fire everyone at RNZ and rehire just the talent and start a mainly online news service with tv and radio secondary to that. Streaming the main feature. Current affairs, news nz documentary focus. BBC but more balance.
Absolutely must be genuinely balanced in its views so bomb proof charter mandatory.
Yes to taxing google/Facebook etc to pay for it.

    1. Hear hear. The presstitute media in NZ DESERVE to be unemployed and unemployable, as they have ZERO professional credibility and are basically NOTING but propaganda agents to the determent of Kiwis. To me that is tantamount to treason and deserves punishment accordingly.

    2. ..how about funding tv1 through govt advertising ,things that the govt spend millions on ,never read pamphlets ,….like be a tidy kiwi ,it’s not ok to beat your Mrs or your kids, methamphetime will ruin your looks ,bank account, and social standing etc etc etc

    3. RNZ needs a kick in the arse at management and board level.
A board needs to have a wide representation of Kiwis not business pimps.

We don’t pay taxed to hear lies from various sources ( often US/UK based) without a good balance to expose those lies.

  3. The only newspapers managing to hold their own in New Zealand are locally owned – The Otago Daily Times, Wairarapa Times Age and one other that I can’t remember the name of

  4. Ah yes, while I’m no expert on all the machinations of journalism, I am highly aware of the societal and political ramifications and the shaping of public opinion and the power which it holds.

Just look at Joseph Goebbels and the destruction he managed to cause.

WHY DID WE EVER LET THESE foreigners into this country to have major influence over our political systems by shepherding our population to think a certain way?

    WHY did they do it?

    HOW did they do it?

    WHO benefited?

Well it seems like these foreigners have had their time in the sun at our expense. Thirty odd years of it in fact. Its time for them to be called inside from the sandpit to have their little afternoon sleeps and have their nappies changed. Then sent home to their mothers.

The three points you’ve made @ Martyn Bradbury?

That would be the tough medicine needed.

  5. If local independent media is a public service then it should, above all, reflect the public needs and desires. A true 4th Estate cannot possibly be for the people if it is funded by a corrupt government that above all will protect its own interests. Extra funding from the government means what for us? More mouthpieces for government legitimizing or trivializing high crimes- no thanks. Oh, and it becomes as infantile as public service announcements to remind us to wash hands. I guess tax payers should just pay more people to treat us like morons, just because… dah… media local… whatever. Can you bite the mouth that feeds you? C’mon. We are better off with no government funded journalism, foreign or supposed local, especially now when legitimate concerns of people are being totally blotted out, ignored and forgotten! Believe it or not- New Zealanders are intelligent, can talk and write to each other and know what is bullshit. To bad we really do not have a voice in media, I get that. What a shame. But a true investigative journalist would prefer to be funded and supported independently by independent thinking people or not at all, and that is how it should be. You really want us to believe a paycheck from the government does not put a muzzle? So, then the real fight is for freedom of political speech for us all, not who can get mo’monies.

  6. Government funding of trash media, which has been trashing the quasi left leaning government is laughable, so it will probably occur. RNZ is getting worse with only a few quality spots. The Minister, like the earlier one, after nine years to work out a plan, didn’t know what to do. TVNZ was too hard, and RNZ has deteriorated, becoming TVNZ like, largely vacuous. Sad. Another revolution that won’t happen. BAU with Jacinda.

  7. The one that astounds me is the radio station with the ridiculous name of ‘magic’. Magical how they’ve resurrected the corpse of John Banks who with his geriatric simpleton voice tries to emulate Trump in name calling. (Pocohontas…Sleepy Joe etc) with weak references to the PM as ‘Cinderella’.
About as bad as Michelle Boag on TV referring to we the public as Cindy’s Kindy….Meowwrrrr Michelle.
Private radio stations have such talent. (sarc)

  8. If we only had RNZ, TVNZ, and Māori Television I don’t really see it as being worse than the present. Stuff and the Herald contribute very little.
