MEDIA WATCH: Mike Hosking’s weird attack on Jacinda – Tall poppy syndrome from a short weed

Mike Hosking’s latest weird rant about Jacinda is just, well, weird.

It’s almost like being respected and celebrated internationally for being an empathetic leader is suddenly a bad thing???

Apart from hating on Jacinda for being a political leader much of the world yearns for, (which kinda comes across as naked jealously from a narcissist to be frank), Mike’s weird list of things he wants her to address are issues he doesn’t give two shits about…

Some things she might like to actually address:

    • The Ihumātao land occupation she’s insisted on involving herself in, despite her saying over and over it’s got nothing to do with government.

She has addressed the land occupation at Ihumātao by publicly saying twice that there won’t be any building on the land while dialogue occurs and she has called for de-escalation. She has sent in her Māori Ministers and they have started a hui with the Māori King. So she has actually addressed this, but what’s odd is Mike’s pretence to care for any of the protectors at Ihumātao, if Mike had his way the entire site would be bulldozed and built into a race track where he could drive his Maserati because it’s more fun when you’re speeding over sacred indigenous lands.

    • The public housing crisis. Numbers last week setting another record.

Yes the public housing crisis is a problem with 12 000 on the waiting list, but that was created by a decade of underfunding thanks to Mike’s favourite political party so blaming Labour for not solving it in two years is as unbelievable as Mike pretending somehow that he cares about poor people living in houses in the first place. I mean when you think ‘Mike Hosking’, you don’t think of him as a friend to the downtrodden, you think of him hunting the downtrodden.

    • DHB debt, as of last week it has blown out to hundreds of millions.

Yes the DHBs have blown out their budgets, again thanks to a decade of low funding under National.

    • Oranga Tamariki baby snatching allegations and her department under siege.

The weaponisation of CYFs into Oranga Tamariki was a National Party experiment, blaming Jacinda for National’s Frankenstein social policy monster is like blaming a pedestrian for being hit from behind by a car.

    • Last week’s confidence surveys numbers. Still falling, business at decade-long lows.

I see your Last weeks low business confidence and raise it the lowest unemployment rate in 11 years.

    • The JobSeeker benefit numbers two weeks back. Once again at record numbers.

Like I said, lowest unemployment rate in 11 years plus the biggest jump in wages in a decade. Boom, that’s two, two upside the head.

    • Where is the KiwiBuild reset?

It’s coming.

    • Where is the National Cancer Agency they promised and yet were beaten to by National last week?

Well, again it’s coming, but didn’t National actually shut down the only Cancer focused agency when they were in power?

Mike doesn’t care about these issues, he’s just throwing mud and hopes some of it sticks.

Why isn’t this firmly behind the Herald Paywall?

  2. Martyn you just read out the National party current mission statement to pretend they care about all the shit they caused. He must be getting close to joining the Natz, maybe he will angle for the top job after they lose the next election. Got all the right credentials, top tier wanker. He’d make a great PM one day, I pray not.

    1. No one would vote for him. He’s a smug tosser and even dyed in the wool Tory cheerleaders find him a tedious blowhard. He’s less appealing than Judith ‘Swamp Kauri’ Collins. It’s only the frothing lunatics on talk-back radio who believe Hosking has anything worthwhile to contribute to the national discussion.

  5. Perhaps we just should relent and start a campaign to undermine the coalition government so it doesn’t make a 2nd term. It seems the only way for NZ to escape the torment of his relentless barrage of negative whinging and whining. Ever since the greatest Prime Minister NZ, quite possibly the world has ever seen , unexpectedly slipped out the back door, Sad Mike has been so, well, very very sad. Then Winston did the wrong thing, and sidelined the born to rule party, further leaving Sad Mike deeply aggrieved. It obviously has has a profound effect on Hosking, one that he simply can’t come to terms with, judging by his ritual morning negative rants on his right wing radio shows. Everything is Prime Minister Jacinda’s fault, from the apparently buggered economy, to the housing crisis that has suddenly manifested from nowhere, to the failure of the gun buy-back, that has only started. Sad Mike even started going down the road of claiming the PM had personally put pressure on the Crusaders to change their name to something more PC. – despite the Crusaders and PM knowing absolutely nothing about it.
    So let’s put the country out it’s misery, and give Sad Mike his wishful political fantasies come true – and give SM his blue team back the reigns of power to stop Mike being so very very sad

  8. wouldnt it be nice if all politians could have the balls to sit around the table aagree on how to solve child bashing, people who dont want the responsability of living in a house that they have to contribute to the cost of, eight generations of families who have never had a job, and come up with a solution?

  9. I think we can all now completely conclude that Mike Hosking is a Wannabe National Party MP. He is also the Mouthpiece of the New Zealand National Party.

    The mainstream NZ media is over-satuated with Wannabe National MPs. Perhaps spreading bullshit and lies is the CV for entering into National Party Politics.

    I don’t bother watching let alone reading or listening to any of the idiotic Hoskings rants and raves. He comes across as being mentally challenged which could well explain why he is so attracted to the NZ National Party after all.

    All in all the mainstream NZ media is giving itself a dis-service by allowing the mostly biased towards National so-called ‘journos’ to have any air time or media space. But no matter how much we complain to the Media services around NZ those journos are allowed to remain in places of spreading hatred, venom, falsehoods and lies.

    I wish we could launch a petition to Get Rid of Mike Hosking and co out of the tabloid NZ Herald, Radio, TV etc. I am so over such negativity from Hosking and co that everything that has happened even between 2008 to date is Jacinda’s fault.

  10. Additional to my earlier posting. I quote often wonder is Hosking on? He looks like someone that is addicted to something that isn’t legal if you get what I mean. Those eyes and the sweaty looking face makes me wonder if he is on the sort of drugs that alot of tv personalities are on especially the younger ones.

Still I must thank Mike Hosking, Barry Soper, John Roughan, Audrey Young, Katie Hawkesby, Matthew Hooten and so many others who helped to make me decide on who to vote for at the next General Election. Their OTT approach has now rebounded back upon them. With them, the journos that are biased towards National, I will not be voting for National next year. So I will thank those aforementioned and many other Wannabe National MP journos who have helped me reach a decision.
    And so whilst the main stream has been over-satuated by biased towards National so-called journalists during the John Key years I will remain voting for the Party that ensures National will never, ever become government again.
