Matthew Hooton, Nicky Hager and the Panama Papers
One is an ethical and well respected commentator, the other is a scumbag.
As we wait to see if John Key really is one of the 70 politicians named in the Panama Papers and as Key’s story goes through the 7 stages of explanation…
1. No we disagree and won’t be looking into it.

…one of the odd connections from the Panama Papers is between Matthew Hooton and Nicky Hager.
Nicky has been investigating these types of trusts for many years, it was because of his investigations that Dirty Politics exposed one of the ugliest moment in the book.
Cathy Odgers, who works creating the types of trusts the Panama Papers cover, asked for Nicky’s address from Cameron Slater, Faarar or Hooton so that the Chinese organised crime syndicates and wealthy 1% who use these trusts to launder their cash could assassinate Nicky Hager.

How this level of spite and political sadism can be rewarded by New Zealanders electorally and the media industry shows how far we have fallen as a nation in the 8 years under National.
Hooten also made a fool of himself this week by asking on Twitter if Hager was ‘keeping the juicy bits about NZ’ from the Panama Papers to put in a book before the next election. He then quoted Hager was working on the papers, based on an article on Pundit. Unfortunately this was from 2013, when Hager was working on the previous ICIJ exposure of tax havens.
No doubt this exemplifies Hooten’s sloppy research and ill-formed outbursts. I, too, am puzzled by the use of Hooten as a commentator. He is only a PR person, a fancy title for a cheap salesman.

Didn’t Hooton participate in assisting Cathy Odgers to find out where Nicky Hager lives, so her clients (corrupt Chinese officials and businessmen) could send a hit-man after him?

Yes, and isn’t that a criminal offence? So why weren’t they charged? Just like John key’s other criminal cohorts Ede, Slater and Bhatnagar, John key’s personal thug squad “the police” turned a blind eye. Scary stuff when you have a criminal corrupt regime like John key’s dictating the shots. All credit to Nicky Hager and the people power that supported him to at least make sure that the police didn’t get away with it this time.
That is such a serious matter. Why didn’t the police take action? Is it too late now?

True, the police are unlikely to do anything to hurt the Nats, But Cathy Odgers should be asked to explain herself. Did RNZ ever interview her? There is certainly the whiff of conspiracy in all this.
The police also intimidated Hager’s daughter when performing their illegal search.

Matthew Hooton is a tool of NatzKEY. While Nicky Hager is a tool of the people, doing the job of what his colleagues in msm should be doing, informing Kiwis of corruption in government, exposing crooked politicians as well as their equally bent cronies! In other words, the proxy of the people!

Nicky Hager is in another league with ethics and integrity on his side. I doubt it if Hooton knows the meaning of those two words being such a suck up puppet to his lord and master – the lying donky in denial.
Lets have many more books come out exposing the rot and filth and hoping Nicky Hager is working on yet another brilliant piece of work.
Any one who has not read ‘dirty politics’ including the Trolls and right wing paid commentators on TDB should do so. It was incredible reading. As well as this pearl about suppling NH address to Chinese billionaires, there is how Mark Mitchell (whose dirty tactics have gone from strength to strength in his career progression) got his job against more deserving and experienced National candidates.

The ICIJ – International Consortium of Investigative Journalists says that Panama Papers are “thousands of times bigger than Wikileaks”
Key’s puppets – Gower, Hosking, Hooton and Henry can “tell us what we need to know today” and try to tell us to move on, nothing to see here. However 11.5 million documents handed to the German newspapers cannot be muzzled by tame political pundits will out Key and the rest of the neoliberal cabal here in NZ.
