Where there are resources to plunder, where there is land that can perhaps be used by more resettlement of Malays and other ethnic groups from over populated islands of the Indonesian Archipelago, there is little desire to have reporters raise concerns that the smallish local, native population of West Papua have.

    I bet it is not just the military, but also big business in Indonesia, that has vested interests, and that dislike people reporting on the truth there.

    But with the largest economy of the world now heading back to ripping the shit out of the earth, they may see a good ‘excuse’ to continue with similar short sighted exploitation in Indonesia and West Papua, territory they inherited from the Dutch colonial power.

    Papuans are only a ‘hindrance’ in that endeavour.
