  1. Look, there are no Nazis or KKK in New Zealand and certainly not in Kaimai.
And even if there were they certainly wouldn’t be rocking up to quiz nights or Posie Parker rallies.
What are portrayed as Nazis or the KKK in New Zealand are either misguided lads having a laugh or people who have social disorders.
Any real Nazis that found their way to New Zealand will be toothless old fossils clutching their colostomy bags.
Misnaming these people just minimizes the horror of actual Nazis and THE KKK.
In any case who decides who gets on the list? Today Nazis and the KKK, tomorrow- transphobes, The Tax Payers Union and anybody who doesn’t speak te reo?

  2. Thats a rather racist comment Jack and you have missed the point its 2023 not the 1950s

    1. Genuine question: In what way is Jack’s comment racist. What is the nuance that I have clearly missed.

    2. Being called a racist in this country is just about the worst thing you can call someone.
Flinging around accusations for every perceived micro aggression both diminishes the actual meaning of racism and amplifies woke virtue signalling in an ever increasing outrage olympics.
You appear to be guilty on both counts.

  3. These fuckers should have been denied entry to the venue, bollocked and sent packing.

Sure maybe not too many expect a confrontation at a Quiz night, but a “Settlers Committee” is perhaps not going to be that far removed from the orbit of KKK sentiments is it? Correct me if I am wrong but it is an overwhelmingly white area, and it is to their shame they did not deal with this more forthrightly on the night rather than make grudging apologies later.

  4. Martyn its easier to date your cousin when they are disguised in a cloak and hood. Takes the guilt away. I can almost hear the banjos from here.

  5. Martyn, you came out swinging when Ian Powell defended stoutly the “democracy of the street” in relation to the violence meted out to supporters of Posie Parker’s “Let Women Speak” event.

    Have you changed your mind?

    1. Agree. The KKK are not slightly humorous not even with irony thrown in It is an insult to all ordinary people and particularly to the USA itself which should feel ashamed every time it surfaces. That country is guilty of raising itself too high in its estimation, and therefore the fall is harder and deeper. It But it actually can’t be linked with black-facing as similar, as I did, but is really disgraceful and abhorrent; black-facing is just, at this time, insensitive and ignorant.
