JK Rowling calls Emma Watson ‘ignorant of how ignorant she is’ as feud escalates
JK Rowling is calling Emma Watson “ignorant” in an escalation of the feud between the author and the actor.
The Harry Potter star had previously criticised Rowling over her views on transgender issues, and their relationship has been strained since.
The author rejects the view that gender identity is different to birth sex, and has opposed gender self-recognition law reforms in the UK.
Last week, Watson told the Jake Shetty podcast: “I really don’t believe that by having had that experience and holding the love and support and views that I have, mean that I can’t and don’t treasure Jo and the person that I had personal experiences with.
“I will never believe that one negates the other and that my experience of that person, I don’t get to keep and cherish.”
But in a lengthy post on X, Rowling has hit back at the star.
“Like other people who’ve never experienced adult life uncushioned by wealth and fame, Emma has so little experience of real life she’s ignorant of how ignorant she is.”
She criticised both Watson and Daniel Radcliffe for speaking out against her.
Rachel Stewart was one of the most important climate change commentators New Zealand ever had.
Her columns on climate change and the damage it is doing to NZ was made more authoritative because she was a member of the very farming community she was consistently criticising.
Her analysis of the Dairy Industry and her criticism of it from the perspective of climate change made her one of the best critical voices in NZ environmentalism.
Then came the woke middle class social media cancel culture purges.
Rachel initially made what I always considered very fair criticisms of the woke Trans dogma, but as the debate became more and more radioactive, Rachel became more angry.
It culminated in woke trans activists manufacturing a death threat and trying to have Rachel ‘swatted’ at home when Police raided her house to take her guns.
After that, races hatred became something than blocked out all reason and she has ended up siding with the most malicious Far Right Hate trolls.
Her story is a grim reminder of how the woke dug us into this culture war between and 2014-2020 and JK Rowling’s Terf bitterness towards Emma Watson is a reminder of how hate mutates the self.
The Trans debate has become so radioactive that it has scarred and burnt everyone involved.
It really says something about the Left that the millisecond we had an edge in social media the first thing we did was round people up for cancellation with social media Lynch mobs.
When it comes to the whole Trans debate, I’m old fashioned. I think finding your true self and being comfortable in your own skin is one of the most important journeys of the human experience.
The idea that there are some men who believe they are women and some women who believe they are men and some people who believe they are both and some people who believe they are neither is as uncontroversial to me as the range of human skin, eye and hair colour.
Referring to someone by their preferred pronouns and identity is just basic good will courtesy offered to every fellow citizen.
If a trans person wishes to share a prison cell or locker room with me, I don’t care, but where I got cancelled by the woke is when I also agree that biological women have a right to philosophically and intellectually challenge some of the identity politics dogma that is being used here.
There is a legitimate debate between gender critical feminists and trans activists but what does it say about that debate when gender critical feminists have been pushed all the way over to the side of Nazis?
I have many self declaring feminist women who privately tell me they have real misgivings with some of the Trans woke dogma but are terrified of saying anything because the Fourth Wave Feminists, non-binary activists and trans ally vegan mommy bloggers rip them to pieces on social media. Part of the problem is that the Trans activists themselves have helped make this debate so radioactively toxic with their cancel culture dynamics.
For me the true tragedy here for the Trans community and the rest of the Idenity Politics movement is how quickly their alienating and over the top attacks along with their fourth wave feminist allies have eroded and burnt so much of the good will the rainbow community had built in the 80s, 90s and 00s.
The rainbow community pre Trans activism had worked to make love and family inclusive, the new woke Trans activists built pure temple cliques that created diversity by cancelling everyone who didn’t agree with them.
This entire issue has caused immense damage on the Left and rather than debating the material well being of citizens, we are lost in middle class identity politics virtue signalling that censors rather than answers and in that cultural space, anger grifters like Posie Parker flourish.
I remember trying to tell the woke 5 years ago not to start a free speech culture war. ACT was on .7 until woke activists gave Seymour the free speech ammunition and he’s now 12%.
The woke need to reflect upon how their alienating dogma caused the very cultural backlash that allowed Trump to win and how that debate can radicalise people against us.
Let’s not lose any more Rachel Stewarts or JK Rowlings.

There are two sides to every issue. When only one side is allowed to be aired, then Houston, we have a problem. The C’sss, as I call them, are one sided issues. The Trans issue, while not one-sided, stem from the same interests pushing the C’sss. The Trans issue is meant to divide, and boy, no blimey, it divides.
We are all lambs waiting to be slaughtered, because not only are we, the people, easily divided, but those that are supposed to unite us, feast on division also. There will be no Left leaning challenge to the ruling class anytime soon, while the Right, the Right covet the rulers more than they despise them.
There is no Left and Right when ti comes to challenging the ruling class and their political puppets…we will either get this, and start the push back, or be Gazarized! This is certain.
it’s sad that the story of a controlled magic world and our real world have not made an impact on the minds of the actors in JKRowling’s Harry Potter series. It seems that they can act it but don’t feel it. Some respect for older people would help. Some respect for those who have gone before and spent much time in trying to move society to more self-understanding and expect for oneself as well as others. Perhaps some little thinking on what might be a new vein would help.
But with power for females has come to a number a desire to dominate; a wardress mindset. Women have always thought they were more moral than men, have invoked the ‘sisters’ togetherness mindset. I wonder when there were people burnings did they object or did they go cold and hard. This is one point of view.

JKR stood in the face of a rabid, violent far left mob and prevailed. She will be regarded as one of the most courageous voices of our era.
It is no surprise that SNL sides with far left extremism that would eliminate women’s rights and protected spaces. They wrongfully think the world will see them as the compassionate ones for trying to tear down JKR for believing that being a woman is more than a feeling and that unpriviliged girls deserve and need protection.
I think it helped that she had enough “fuck you” money to be able to stand up to any institution, including the Scottish government.
Absolutely correct. The real problem of course is that JK Rowling the wrong sort of woman. Unfortunately the left doesn’t actually like strong independent woman. It prefers to reserve these terms for tame ideologically conforming women who stay on the reservation.
Beating up on trans people, who are already a marginalized group, does not protect cis girls or women in any way. The real threat to cis girls and women is, and always has been, cis men.
It is not coincidental that the UK supreme court ruled in For Women Scotland v The Scottish Ministers, that the gender fictions not exactly popularized but certainly strongly presented by a tiny and irrational minority did not overrule conventional single sex spaces.
A number of public figures and educators hounded out of their jobs began to find enough push back to renew their careers, and the weaponization of the police by activists through such illegalities as forwarding details of so-called “non-crime hate incidents” to employers has been significantly reduced.
Activists continue to target Rowling however, and consequently should be treated as the spiteful and irrational creatures they have proven themselves to be.

Society seems to have lost the ability to separate fact and feelings, and if others shared your liberal and often repeated view, there would be a lot less tension. While I have a more conservative view about what is right and wrong, I also understand the need to meet people where they are, and if they are not harming other people, then I prefer to stay out of their lives. As you describe the woke ideas that are being indoctrinated as widely as possible have caused the inevitable backlash as otherwise reasonable people end up linked with people with extreme views. Political power tends to change so as the events in the US show we seem to be entering a time when forced morality is becoming government policy although you can be sure that a few dead rats will be part of the mix.
Despites her years of advocacy the trans-fascists/Buffalo Bills have autually turned on Ms Watson. I’d be ramping up my security if I were her.
I don’t understand what that means Hen. But I guess it doesn’t matter as I’m old and my good intentions of leaving society in a better condition than I found it, while at the same time, honouring the work that others had attempted with some achievements, is a faint and dying hope.
The nasty self-centred grasping side of humans has risen to the top like toxic gas bubbles in a sewer. Gasp – one can hardly breathe in this climate, so I have to steer clear of the various modern rabbit holes one may break an ankle or a sweet hope in. It appears that you have adapted to have some sort of individual life, though with lesser respect for others eccentricities or deviations, despite what you might say, than I had hoped for in society.
JK Rowling does not own the actors just because she wrote the stories the movies are based on. That is ridiculous. Emma Watson is a good actor and doesn’t owe Rowling anything at all. Emma Watson is an adult now and entitled to hold her own opinions.
Rowling has an over-inflated sense of entitlement.
