  1. CEAC mourns after The Death Of Jeanette Fitzsimons
    Saturday 7th March 2020.
Press Release: Citizens Environmental Advocacy Centre.

In 2000 we had the pleasure of meeting Jeanette Fitzsimons at a Green Party meeting at a café in Napier, and she instantly radiated such warmth of humanity towards every soul there.

My wife and I felt she was a gifted person who spoke softly but sent clear messages of ‘common sense’ to us all.

Then in 2001 Jennette accompanied by Rob Donald whom were both co-leaders of the ‘new Green Party’ were embarking on a full effort to confront the declining environmental stewardship of past Governments, advocating for widespread changes to make NZ a ‘clean-green’ society again.

We then decided to join this worthy cause as we were planning to begin a family life again in Napier after being overseas for 10yrs.

Jeanette touched our hearts and will be forever missed for her exceptional love of humanity and care of her communities she had part in taking care of.

We join with NZ First and Labour partners to send our condolences to Jeanette Fitzsimons family and friends after the sad news on Friday that Jeanette had passed away.

    End.

  2. As often the case, some good analyses and valid comments from many contributors to the TDB.

    But.

The bottom-line remains that without the logical organizational consequences stemming from these analyses the TDB is not more than the ‘Wailing Wall in the Land of the Long White Cloud’.

    Three Basic Options.

    1) Change the existing Green Party from within.

    2) Establish a new eco-socialist political platform.

    3) Facilitate and enhance cooperation and communication among civilian initiatives in AONZ.

Ms Jacinda and friends cannot do that .…. even if you vote for her.

    System Change. Now.

  3. Jeanette I am sure saw it as something of very real concern that had lost its way since she was there. ‘ve always wondered about James Shaw’s bid for the leadership, post Russel and whether in fact Shaw did increased the membership. A very easy thing to say when campaigning and whoever follows up once the cat is in the bag. I know a number of people who have been involved with the party for a great many years who have left. I also know people who joined the party in solidarity with Meteria.

  4. Knew Jeanette from the Values Party days. Such a genuine gentle humble lady unbelievably strong and determined and passionate about making this world a better place. Her honesty and integrity made her an absolute one of a kind in politics. So very sad we have lost you Jeanette.
