  1. McCully hasn’t said much on the Palestinian terrorism either – he’s keeping “neutral” by saying very little. That’s probably better than saying teenagers stabbing pregnant women is human nature. McCully has also said nothing of human rights abuses in Iran or Saudi Arabia but has welcommed their oil money. The UN is quiet on those countries also for similar reasons. Saudi bought UK votes to get into the Human Rights Council. The UN is a joke that we shouldn’t venerate so much.

  2. Shame about Zwartz. Outside his views on Israel, he’s an admirably progressive person – longtime Labour Party activist, one of the more impressive, community-minded Wellington City councillors in the 90s. Part of a Left-leaning minority opposition to the Thatcherite Mayor Prendergast.

But, unfortunately, he was obviously bought up immersed in the whole Zionist ethos (unless it was a post-67 thing – see Norman Finkelstein’s analysis of Israel’s most prominent US apologists) and consequently he has spent the last few decades defending the indefensible.

Still, he’s never been quite as obnoxious as some of the more prominent local Hasbara operatives (a little less likely to resort to crude “anti-Semitic” slurs against human rights activists, a little more likely to acknowledge non-Jewish suffering at the hands of the Nazis and so on).

  3. Critisizing Jews / Zionists / B’nai B’rith / Bolsheviks / ADL, Soros, Spectre. Kerry-Cohen, Merkel, et al, is not hate speech. It is about “NAMING the Jews”. Holding the mirror up to their faces so that they can look at what the world sees. Jews control the rhetoric by attacking Goyim who have woken up with, “Anti-Semite!”, ‘We are always victimized!’, “It’s all your fault!”, ‘Remember the Hollowhoax!’.
    Israel controls the surrounding countries.
Novelty = Now, on the Alt-Right Sites, US / UK / Europe, the questions are, ‘Name The Jew, Now?’, ‘Each and every one of them?’, ‘In broad daylight and relentlessly reminding Goyim who they are dealing with?’ “Why were they expelled 109 times from 80 countries?” Usury.

    1. You’re either a genuine anti-Semitic Neo-Nazi or you’re one of Israel’s Hasbara brigade seeking to discredit principled human rights critiques of Israel’s Occupation/War Crimes with a little bit of black ops-style guilt-by-association. Probably the former, but I’m not ruling out the latter.

  4. New Zealand making a difference by calling for the suspension of Israel from the UN?
A ridiculous proposition, which I presume you must know. But it would certainly be one way to make us irrelevant in the world. Even most of the countries in the Middle East would think we were nuts.
On your standard most Middle Eastern countries should be suspended from the UN. Virtually all of them have a worse human rights record than Israel. You just have to add up the numbers of people killed in each state, often by the state, to know that.
It is now a test of “Left Progressives” that they be utterly opposed to Israel, and to demand ever more extreme actions against Israel including non-recognition of the state of Israel, whilst seemingly ignoring the firestorm or war and destruction that surrounds Israel. For instance I have never seen a demonstration against Assad. In fact many on the Left seem to support the Russian intervention, not withstanding the wanton destruction caused by their primitive and outdated technology.
As a usual rule if left progressives (as opposed to the moderate left) are against something I know I should generally take the opposite view. And this particular item further is further evidence of the truth of that.

    1. Wayne, considering that Israel continues to flout U.N. resolutions; blockade Gaza; and is building more illegal settlements on the West Bank, there is a great deal of difference between Israel and it’s Arab neighbours; Israel is in an expansionist, imperlialistic phase and is occupying land it has no legal entitlement to.

After all, the First Gulf War was about liberating Kuwait from Iraqi occupation.

Israel’s occupation of the Golan Heights, West Bank, and Gaza, is no different to Iraq’s invasion of Kuwait in 1990. (Except that the the Americans seemed indignant at Saddam Hussein’s expansionist imperialism, but not at Israel’s. Double standards much?)

    2. Well Wayne, I think Israel has a track record of aggression that would warrant it’s isolation from the rest of the international community. Just as South Africa during it’s apartheid era, was isolated.

If Israel wants to avoid isolation, they should lift their blockade against Gaza and withdraw from the West Bank. Simple really.
