The controversial plan has raised concerns due to its lack of Palestinian input and its potential to undermine the UN. Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez has announced that his country will be declining Donald Trump’s invitation to join the planned “Board of Peace”, citing its divergence from international law and failure to include the Palestinian Authority. “The future of Palestine as a whole should be settled by Palestinians,” Sanchez said in a speech at the EU’s headquarters in Brussels on Thursday. Spain joins a number of US allies, including the UK and France, who have indicated hesitation at joining the board at this time.
