Victims 13–14 August 2025:
123 more killed and 381 wounded
Since dawn, Israeli air strikes, missile–launches and gunfire on homes, as well as medical and other facilities, have resulted in 123 dead and 381 wounded. Civil Defence crews retrieved four more bodies from underneath bomb-damaged property, bringing the total number now killed in Gaza, since 7 October 2023, to at least 61,845. The total wounded now is at least 154,906. The daily average number of men, women and children killed in Gaza is at least 91 and, that of those injured, is more than 229. A UN report states that, as of 14 January 2025, around 70% of those killed in Gaza were women and children.

ICJ declares Israeli Occupation of Palestinian West Bank to be unlawful
In a briefing to the UN Security Council on Gaza, OCHA’s Director of the Co–ordination Division, Mr Ramesh Rajasingham, expressed deep concerns regarding how the expansion of military operations in Gaza are affecting the Israeli–Occupied Palestinian West Bank. Recalling that, a year ago “the International Court of Justice determined that Israel must bring its unlawful presence, policies and practices to an end as rapidly as possible,” he expressed concern that developments in the West Bank “worsen an existing humanitarian situation that sadly remains less visible – not because it is less severe, but because global attention has been drawn elsewhere.”

Key Highlights
- Israeli forces forcibly displaced the Ein Ayoub Bedouin community following a series of attacks by Israeli settlers. This is the ninth community to be fully displaced in the Ramallah governorate since January 2023, following recurrent attacks by Israeli settlers.
- The monthly number of Palestinians injured by Israeli settlers more than doubled in June and July 2025 (about 100) compared with an average of 49 per month between January and May 2025 and 30 per month in 2024.
- As the summer heat-wave persists, many Palestinian communities across the West Bank are facing extreme water shortages, driven mainly by a substantial reduction in the water supply from Israeli pipelines in some areas, insufficient rainfall, lack of permits to build water infrastructure or demolitions thereof, and settler violence.
- Between 1 January and 11 August 2025, Israeli authorities punitively demolished or sealed 23 homes and four other structures, displacing approximately 140 people, including 57 children – the highest level of displacement within this context compared with any similar period since 2009.

Israeli Army violence – severe beating-up and injuries: Jenin – 17:00, a resident of Tamoun, Tariq Muhammad Bani Odeh, suffered a severe beating-up by Israeli troops at the Barta’a checkpoint, which led to his hospitalisation and amputation of a leg, along with injuries to the right side of his pelvis and abdomen.
Israeli Army violence – severe beating and injury: Hebron – 09:24, a man, Suleiman Issa Suleiman Al-Tubasi, was admitted to the Government Hospital in Hebron, suffering from injuries following a severe beating-up by Occupation forces, at the entrance to the village of Qalqas.
Occupation settlement development: Jerusalem – the Israeli Occupation issued six tenders for the building of more than 4,000 settlement units, including three for the expansion of the Ma’ale Adumim settlement and three more for extending the Ariel Occupation settlement.
Occupation settler violence: Tubas – evening, Israeli Occupation settlers vandalised and demolished vegetable stalls, along Route 90 near the village of Ein al-Bayda, in the North Jordan Valley.

The BBC today (August 16) has a still photograph from a video showing the visit by Itmat Ben Gvir, Israeli Minister of National Security, Leader of Otzma Yehudit(Jewish Power) West Bank Settler and convicted terrorist(under Israeli Law!) to the imprisoned Marwan Barghouti.
In a scene reminiscent of Freisler, the Nazi judge, Ben Gvir used the opportunity to scream insults at the Palestinian prisoner( the Israeli Minister safely surrounded by his bodyguards), interrupt him as he tried to speak and then boasted about his visit on Ben Gvir’s account for X(Twitter).
Who is Marwan Barghouti to inspire so much vitriol in Zionist minds?
‘Despite his imprisonment, Barghouti has consistently topped opinion polls asking Palestinians who they would vote for in a Presidential election, ahead of both current President Mahmoud Abbas and leaders of Hamas. Several prominent supporters of a resumption of the Israel-Palestine peace process view Barghouti as the leader most able to unify the Palestinians and negotiate a compromise with Israel. He has been referred to as “the Palestinian Mandela.”( New York Times)
In 2008, 45% of Israelis supported the release of Barghouti, while 51% were opposed. Another approach is to suggest that Israel’s freeing of Barghouti would be an excellent show of good faith in the peace process. Some prominent Israelis have called for Barghouti’s release, citing his unique ability to unite Palestinians These include Ami Ayalon, Efraim Halevy, Meir Shitreet, and both Yossi Beilin and Haim Oron, two former ministers on the left of Israeli politics. Several IDF officers involved in Barghouti’s 2002 capture have taken a similar view.(Haartez).
