If National had been in power during the pandemic
If National were in charge during pandemic, they would’ve ignored it like the Housing crisis, they would’ve underfunded it like the Health crisis and they would’ve followed the science the way they followed it over the state house meth hysteria!
In short, we’d all be dead.
National is the party of the property speculator, the banker and the farmer. They would have moved heaven and high hell to protect them from the pandemic by keeping our borders wide open. They would allow a mountain of dead to have occurred before doing anything that might hurt their rich mates.
Don’t tell me National would have listened to the ‘science’ – National don’t give two shits about the ‘science’! Remember the State House meth hysteria?
Remember how National needlessly pissed $120million against the wall for state house decontamination that the science said wasn’t needed?
Remember how National threw 1000 beneficiaries onto the streets in the middle of a housing crisis and banned them from any more state housing despite the science saying there was no health contamination issues or legal proof those tenants had actually even smoked the meth?
Remember how Housing NZ ignored THEIR OWN POLICY on meth contamination so that they would do National’s bidding to discredit and defame state house tenants at a time when National was trying to privatise state housing?
Don’t fucking tell me National would have listened to the science to deal with the virus if they had been in power because their track record is to ignore science for their own personal political gain!
There have been some fuck ups with Labour’s response to the pandemic, no doubt about that. The border was always a weak point, but comparing our incredibly low rates of death and sickness to everywhere else and what National would have done in power and the truth is we would have thousands dead before Muller and his self interested mates lifted a finger.
If Muller gets elected, he will open those borders for his rich mates faster than you can say ‘Donald Trump has reached a new low’.

As for national being in charge we are still fixing their fuck ups from the Chch earthquake, the pike rive mine, the PPP contracts they claimed to be the answer to our infrastructure woes when in fact contracts were under quoted and have now blown out. Then to add to the insult we have the ECC mess not too mention ACC denying people entitlements while smearing top public servants using pulla rebstock who was paid huge amounts to discredit people and the organisation. And then national backtracking as we had to pay out those who she discredited while getting paid a mouth watering sum. Nah! leave them in opposition.
Labour are looking far more competent when it comes to border security as under National we had a number of bio security breaches. Might want to pitch that to the farmers and rural folk.

One only needs to go to the mass grave at Waikumete Cemetery for the victims of the Spanish Flu to look at what could have happened if National was in government.
In that mass grave are the remains of over 1200 victims of that flu. And if history repeated itself I am sure National would be(and quoting one of John Key’s pet words)comfortable with that number of deaths.
Besides the track record of National to date has shown they prefer to gain political brownie points for themselves and to Hell with NZers young and old. The fact that National chose to sit on the information of the two sisters for a number of hours proves to me they don’t give a toss about NZers. It was all a ego chase and upmanship tactic for them.
Lets remember also that John Key was okay for the older population to be dying off so less votes for Winston. Since he quit being leader of the New Zilland National Party I am sure his comments on the elderly would be acceptable to the current batch of leaders and followers.
Lets hope National will be tripping themselves up again and again between now and the election. But whilst the media panders to their demands for attention it has all backfired on both National and the media. I cannot take either seriously anymore.

Australia is currently being run by the liberal party which is far more right wing and far less competent than NZ’s national party. And yes Australia has a lower per-capita covid death toll than NZ.
I really doubt there would have been much of a measurable difference in the death toll regardless of if NZ was under Labour or National.
