  1. I was hoping to find a new way to stop people from feeling powerless. Oh well, live in hope.

  2. The local electorate is so brainwashed, dumbed down and submissive that their outlook is more akin to “We can’t do anything to stop… anything”!

  3. By their logic my tax bill is just rounding for the NZ govt so I shouldn’t have to pay it as it makes no difference. IRD seemed a bit anti about that so if anyone can give me tips how to get them to see the light it would be much appreciated.

  4. Can we have the same attitude to criminals and people who don’t want to work?

    1. The Right abolished Full Employment, didn’t hire enough cops and shut down the mental wards!

      1. Yep Kristoff, but National won’t admit their mistakes.

  5. NZs 0.17% contribution to global climate emissions means that our local angst actions are nothing more than virtue signalling dogma to extract more tax.

Thankfully we live in a temperate zone surrounded by ocean & almost constant wind systems. So, no worries although an extra couple of degC in Wgtn would be welcome.

    1. Japan was sold the nuclear silver bullet. With 140 odd million and a complex domestic economy looked a good choice to solve energy needs but the last country on earth that should have gone down that path. Nuclear power and earthquakes, not a good combo Robbie.

        1. Agree, probably not ideal for the Shakey Isles but it’s the solution on stable continental land masses where most of the global warming originates.

  6. The greenhouse effect and the global warming ice core evidence has been known about for 40 years. So far the response has been windmills and teslas. The quickest option for massive rejigging to carbon neutral energy supply is nuclear. Is the trade off – nuclear everywhere v climate catastrophe.

  7. If it’s that urgent . Then let’s provide all peeps with gas guzzler cars that have done over 250 km with retail value under 8 k a free trade in option for a 50 k EV.

    Done.

  8. The accompanying graphic to your post, Martyn, strongly suggests you are advocating elder abuse.

    Not really a good look.

Indeed, the whole idea of assaulting people you’re unable to convince strikes me as abhorrent.

Would you have published that graphic if the person getting slapped was Black, or a woman, or a child?

    Ageism – much.

  9. Very interesting. We are all in this together eh. Let’s go Dutch. (I have been reading about Dutch immigrants in NZ – a great read.

I thought this extract told a lot.
Fortunately for the Dutch, they love an argument, and are not easily daunted by conflict. If only their New Zealand friends and relatives felt the same way! Listen to this lament from a New Zealand spouse. “When I first met my husband I used to go with him and sit and listen while he played cards with other Dutch people—bridge, usually. It must have been love, because I couldn’t understand a word of Dutch, and all the magazines around the house were Dutch too.

“I’d watch them as they played. Sometimes one would stand up and abuse his partner at the top of his voice, and then at the end of the evening they’d all be roaring with laughter. I coudn’t work it out. Still can’t, sometimes. It’s taken me years to get used to that….

What this New Zealander is trying to come to terms with is the Dutch sense of humour, which thrives on insult and rebuttal, all acted out as loudly and vigorously as possible. A sensitive Kiwi is likely to get scalded in the process, but the Dutch know it’s good fun, even though they might have just abused your family, called you fat and are about to start on where you live….https://www.nzgeo.com/stories/the-invisible-immigrants/ 1992

I think if we tap into our Dutch neighbours ways and wisdom we might get some useful perspectives, and also have some convivial arguments. Could we try this sort of unusual social/ political discussion with some lively good natured Dutch setting the pace and showing how to manage the hubbub? Someone who knows a likely person/s!?

  10. Assaulting people that don’t share your convoluted view? Wow – Did you not learn that you cannot control what other people say, do or think? Wait – oh…the thought police are here to TELL us what to think…the State controlled media…and you.

    1. It’s called “ Pure trans joy” by the religious woke.
The left don’t realize what they have become.
