  1. Then its Efeso Collins , then. We cannot have Mr Bradbury bored to death nor can we have any more right wing neo liberal wankers in power. Its that simple.

  2. I’d rather see Efeso Collins in Parliament as a Green MP to lead the Greens away from their white middleclass wokery to become the party of the dispossessed and excluded.

  3. Auckland mayor, never a more pointless figurehead position courtesy of National/ACT’s shitty supercity legislation that has in summary, bought us more judder bars per square kilometre than any other city in history.

Mitchell has a good chance of winning, not because he is charismatic or appealing, he’s neither, but because Labour are sliding downhill. A vote for anything associated with Labour is as useful, if you want things done, as pissing into the wind. Auckland CBD especially has been gutted by mindless anti car zealot pro bike bus spotters and it’s unsafe. Mitchell being the ex police dog handler can bring that law enforcement background and his Nat finances to the fore to promise changes to Auckland Councils fruity approach.

I think more people than not have had enough in general and Goff was cruising to a loss anyway. But as said voting is pointless in local body politics but a protest vote may be enough to see a change.

Next years Auckland mayoral race may well be the canary in the coal mine for Labour’s timid failures.

    1. Well Stuff were lining Mitchell up long ago as a John Key clone who got rich rescuing cutesy cuddly dogs in the human wreckage of Iraq, so at least the canines of Auckland will have something to look forward to.

Oh c’mon , XRAY ,… your generally more astute than that,… let me introduce you to something more direct. Something proactive, that resonates with the electoral body, – as in getting off ones arse and getting out and voting. After all, they are not gods, – but mere human beings who shit and fart and belch who we PAY to execute OUR WILL. And not the other way round.

      1. I beg to differ WK.

Auckland Council has this sideshow/appearance of democracy but that is kept at arms length from councilors is the Council Controlled Organisation’s, in essence what Auckland Council actually does with our rates. This expressly brought into law to stop political interference in what Auckland Council does. So my local board members get next to no say or pull on what Auckland Transport, for example, waste money on. High paid non elected executives do.

Example ,and one of many, blocking Great North Rd in Henderson for people spaces, (some tit in that lobby area called them “people fountains”) and bike lanes, (costing several hundred thousand dollars) and spending 90 thousand dollars on painting the intersection of GNR and Railside Ave was a clusterfuck dreamt up by Auckland Transport to appease Twitter groups and the Greater Auckland echo chamber. Cue the downturn in business as a result.

It took protest marches to get these morons to get rid of it, not votes. Not local board members who are impotent. Not the mayor who has no say.

That is what I mean about the pointlessness of voting. But it pays otherwise unemployable citizens to go to pointless meetings, however.

        1. Some good and salient points.

However, is it a good thing that we have to employ ‘bootsloggers’ to do the bidding when we already pay these ‘fish-heads’ good salary’s to execute our wills, … yet they merrily disregard our wishes?

Which alludes to, and emphasizes, the vacuous reality of the neo liberal political edifice.

          I appreciate your reply’s.

  4. I just hope a normal non political candidate (or a politician who has shown some degree of integrity and effectiveness) shows up to vote for. None of the political candidates mentioned are going to help Auckland as a city, let alone the people who currently live here. Mark Mitchel of dirty politics is a huge worry. But Shearer seems to be untrustworthy and Efeso seems like another woke, ineffective choice.

People of Auckland, would vote for David Cunliffe but not sure he would want to stand.

    1. savenz. Oh yes. I’d forgotten about Mark Mitchell in ‘ Dirty politics’, I will have to reread it. I tend to be distracted by his seeming reluctance to open his mouth properly when he speaks.
