I have seen in my time Auckland blossom into an incredible multi-cultural city that adds a dynamism and vibrance that every single one of us as Aucklanders can be genuinely proud of, but that huge population gain requires proper funding of infrastructure, and that funding has to come from central government, not the residents of Auckland who had no hand in the forces that have caused such enormous strain on our underfunded infrastructure!

It is utterly insane that we are allowing free market mythology over rule basic Keynesianism.
The State invests because it is in the national interest that the largest City in the country be able to provide the infrastructure to house so many, it doesn’t just shrug and say ‘not my problem, you pay for it’.

The toll should never have been removed .A new crossing would be real by now had it been left in place ,its called PAYING FOWARD ,which is where our thinking needs to be headed .
