Are those who have a mental illness more intuitive?
Most individuals who have a mental illness have experienced trauma throughout childhood or adolescence leaving the individual hypervigilant.
I sometimes wonder if some people who have experienced trauma notice small signs including usually unnoticeable facial expressions or body language that others who are less vigilant don’t notice… I feel that people who have a mental illness are almost ‘more than’ than ‘less than’ as they can notice small traits in others that non mentally ill people don’t.
ABOUT HADLEY GRACE ROBINSON-LEWIS: I studied at the Auckland University of Technology where I completed a Bachelor of Health Science in Nursing. I’m Passionate about, Neurology, Psychiatry, Medicine, societal issues and Maori Health. I’m highly passionate about advocating for the mentally ill. My passion for assisting the underprivileged and those experiencing hardships in relation to mental illness has led me to charity work. More “hyper vigilant”?? There might be a survival necessetity behind such a trait, if it’s generally true. I’ve heard that children in violent, abusive households are generally more hyper-vigilant for sheer survival and to know when to avoid an escalating violent episode.
