  1. State broadcasters uphold the interests of the State, the State serves the interests of the powerful – the truth is dangerous to the State – because an informed populous is the only threat to this status quo. We are in an information war – this is the only war that we should be fighting.

  2. My god this is the best thing I have read all year. A breath of air, let alone fresh air.

Kudos to Mick Hall for having objective journalistic integrity, nous and compassion, which of course is treated (and derided) as bias by the actually biased media community. Don’t believe me? Watch the BBC.

Of course the Ukrainian-flag bearing X and Facebook denizens – who had never even heard of Ukraine, the 10 years of Donbass atrocities, or the Maidan before 2022, will froth and spume.

But Mick is 100% correct. More power to his pen.

  3. You correctly identify the lack of truth in the msm although I suspect that things will only get worse when the church state combination beginning in the USA happens. While NZ overall doesn’t have a strong belief in the higher powers most are only a few supernatural events away from believing almost anything if they feel that their future is under threat.

    1. Yes, that shining light on the hill that Reagan conflates with freedom & democracy is in fact a B52 coming over the horizon to teach you a lesson….ya should have taken our few free bags of rice while we help ourselves to your natural resources!

  4. Very true. Right now, RNZ is publishing open zionist lies claiming that zionists who attacked human beings in the Netherlands and then found out- as confirmed by even the Daily Mail, of all things- are innocent victims of ‘antisemitic attacks’. These scum at RNZ are traitors to the human race.

  5. This is good to know. When I get time I will read it, it is important. My son can’t see what could be the reason to alter reports. I am beaten down by the meeting of the two fighting concepts of human behaviours – cupidity v stupidity, or are they twins. Look after yourselves you who are really thinking your way through to see what is appropriate.

  6. Absolutely commend you Martyn for allowing us to read Mick Hall’s piece. As far as I’m concerned he’s 100% correct, a viewpoint I know you don’t share. But nevertheless you’ve practised an evenhandedness lacking in RNZ

  7. The danger of *not* telling the truth is that the public are blind sided by events. Take the panic of the evacuations from Saigon and Kabul. Now the “shock” of Donald Trump’s victory in the US presidential election. These all came as a surprise to many in the New Zealand public because the public had been fed a narrative that allowed little room for such outcomes. But to those of us who study foreign news sources these events were entirely predictable and expected.
Does the colonialist media believe its own narrative? There is some reason to believe that they do. There is reason to believe that the colonialist political establishment believed that it would win the wars in Vietnam and Afghanistan, believed that Kamala Harris would defeat Donald Trump, and still believe that Ukraine and the collective west will prevail against Russia. Either that or they are perpetrating a great lie.
The full explanation of the regime’s media strategy lies between these two. The regime knowingly suppresses the truth, yet somewhere in the dim recesses of the collective colonialist mind, believes that if you firmly and persistently hold to the false narrative in time it will become the effective truth, and reality will then mystically fall into line with the false narrative. This is the basis of Frank Hoffman’s theory of hybrid warfare which the collective west has taken up hook, line and sinker. (One regular contributor on TDB is a case in point).
New Zealand colonialism, as a creature of western imperialism, is characterized by a persistent, deliberate and structural cognitive failure that ultimately has to have negative consequences for the regime as whole. It is not just the public that are being deceived. At the same time the regime is managing to deceive itself. Does anyone imagine this can end well for the regime?

  8. Has Mick Hall been to the Employment Tribunal for a constructive dismissal payout? Sounds like a good case to put before the public, again. Fired for telling the truth.
