  1. Thank you for your insightful article Peter, which I also found disturbing. Like you mentioned in your piece, noone in NZ knows what happens to innocent men who are accused of sexual assaults. I hope your story is more widely shared so that the NZ public can begin to question what really happens when you are innocent but have been accused of such a heinous crime.

I also cannot believe that even though you can prove that your accuser is a liar and put you through hell due to her accusations, nothing happened to her….absolutely disgraceful…

    1. Thanks for your comments, Charlene. I’m afraid it’s true: Verity will never face consequences for her false accusations. When I received a very rude phone call from the detective, saying I wouldn’t be charged, I asked if Verity would be. The response was a snapped “Mind your own business. You know nothing about the law.” The biggest outrage is that her complaint file remains open for ever, so the police can open it again at any time and I can still be charged.

  2. Thank-you Peter for highlighting this major and disturbing issue. Not being a lawyer I have no way of interpreting how the proposed changes will unfold in the ‘theatre’ of the court room and can only hope that you, and others with similar stories, are heard by those making the changes.

  3. This is great Peter that you got this article out there. Your hard work and determination to tell your story in hopes of helping others is admirable.
    Thank you Cyndy Walker
