  1. Great Article Mike Lee, Pure corruption for sure.

These leeches are sucking the blood bout of our economy till the patient dies.

    1. Unfortunately Mike Lee has been a major part of the problem for many years. (I don’t think there are two Mike Lees). This is surely the Mike Lee I provided with vital information for planning well over a decade ago, and who ignored that information.

  2. A lesson in “101 National Party unpopular policy management, to enrich the rich”.

It reeks of what was hidden behind the scenes, namely a list of demands they were too spineless to enact themselves and to bypass the RMA because they couldn’t do it in parliament. So they invoked the tired old blame someone else method (Auckland Council). In this case the need to bring in a developers paradise, I assume to keep true with their donors, National bullied the Auckland Council into the Unitary Plan. If this plan ultimately proves unpopular National can stand back and blame AC but then again who can do a damn thing about it?

But you know it’s what National wanted from the two following statements:

Bill English “…it seems, as a whole, that it goes a significant way to meeting Auckland’s housing objectives. But it’s really for the Council to consider what the independent panel’s given them.”

Followed by Nick Smith; “I’m highly reluctant to comment on the detail of the plan because there is a semi-judicial process underway with the Independent Hearings Panel having reported to council and it’s not for me to be trying to influence the council as it now works its way through those recommendations and comes to a decision.”

Aren’t they modest in their praise and how utterly correct they are to not interfere in the process. But with those weasel words you know this was a jack up. This ‘plan” was rammed through pretty much as if National had written the script with little time for dissension (20 days only I recall Smith raving) using as justification, although not in any way admitting it was their fault, Nationals hand made monster the Auckland housing crisis.

Comments like the above two ministers made follow on from genuine threats by them to take over the council more or less if their demands were not met. Democratic eh? But why the rush, as if passing this debacle in record time was ever going to build a single house anytime soon or house a single homeless person, not that National gives a shit about them anyway.

This is what happens when a government is taken over by millionaires whose organisational vehicle, (National), entire purpose of being is being in a business relationship only with its donors to make more wealthy, those involved in this exclusive relationship!

  3. Classic Hitler stuff,

    First create a crisis,

Then find the solution and in so doing it blowing away half the world to do some changes.

Classic policy he and his junta used.

Now we see why Key read all Hitler’s history stuff about the war as he had a healthy appetite for it apparently.

  4. Amazing from the man who was behind the housing crisis (ARC was behind the Urban Limit Control)!! I can’t believe Mike Lee has never apologised to Auckland and has the audacity to keep his snout in the trough.
