  1. Such a lot of truth about the dysfunctional and destructive nature of the American empire in one article, and confirming what many of us have been saying for years -that America is the most dangerous rogue state in the world.

John Key and his pro-American-empire cronies will be displeased that such truth is published. On the other hand, they may not be too bothered, since so few people will read it.

There is one point of contention: ‘In global terms the US has never been more powerful.’

The US arguably reached its peak of power in the 1990s, when it had succeeded in undermining the USSR and Russia was on its knees. Since then Russia has slowly recovered, and is now in a position to fend off any attack, non-nuclear or nuclear, that America may attempt, and make the American homeland pay very dearly for attempting any attack on Russia. The turning point was probably around 2008, when the US puppet Saakashvili attempted an invasion of South Ossetia, and lost; Russia dealt with the situation and the US did nothing.

Similarly, China has morphed from a largely peasant society incapable of making sophisticated equipment into one of the most technologically advanced nations on Earth. And like Russia, China is preparing itself for an American assault.

Iran is also arguably in the strongest position it has ever been in; certainly, there can be no repeat of the US-instigated overthrow of the Iranian government, as happened in 1953, nor a repeat of the proxy war of the late 1980s.

As far as the American homeland is concerned, it has never been weaker: conventional oil extraction peaked in 1972, and the US is increasingly dependent on short-lived, expensive-to-extract oil. The great Ogallala aquifer is more depleted than ever; Lake Mead is at a record low. Trees are dying and burning like never before. The heart of American industry has been demolished and replaced with money-printing, with debt at a record level ($20 trillion is it?) at historically low interest rates that distort everything, and the debt is increasing. And nations are blatantly abandoning the US dollar as a ‘reserve currency’; the petrodollar is nearly dead. What is more, the American people have never been more unhealthy or incapable (largely as a consequence of the awful diet promoted by corporate America).

The degeneration of America has clearly reached the pinnacle of lunacy when voters are confronted with a choice between the mad man and the mad woman (sane candidates never getting a mention, of course).

Much as we would like to see America pack up and go home quietly, there seems little chance of that happening; more likely a fight to the death over diminishing resources.

    1. Meanwhile NZ ignores what is happening on all major fronts and follows a banker puppet into the biggest mess in history with no preparation or even alarm.

  2. Thank you Kieran.
We are seeing played out publicly what has always been under the surface. Thank God for the internet (but a question mark hangs over that as from 1 October). It’s a last ditch attempt by the Khazarian Zionists to destroy or take control of the world before they themselves are destroyed. Good news is all nuclear armament has been disarmed and reliance is on naive troops on the ground, as usual the Illuminati cannon fodder.

What is not being told is what is playing out above our heads and under the ground and this is the “spiritual” side to this nonsense and it has every thing to do with the fact that earth is far from the only inhabited planet in this Galaxy and Multiverse.
Time for us to wake up, stock up and wait for this nonsense to end and to send our love to those in all countries being savaged by these bankster and war mongering corporations and their government minions.

    1. From where did you get the notion that ‘all nuclear armament has been disarmed’?

The situation is actually quite to the contrary. The US resurrected the concept of first strike nuclear attack, with the intention of knocking out its opponent and rendering it incapable of retaliation. It is pure fantasy as a strategy, of course. But the people who are in control of America are close to being completely insane. They have been for decades, which is why the world in such a mess.

Well aware of past US aggression and the US agenda of complete world domination, Russia has been urgently developing missile shields to render any pre-emptive attack ineffective, and has already pointed out to European leaders that any attack on Russia could be met by a nuclear response from Russia….very likely ballistic nuclear missiles aimed at the capitals of NATO members supporting US-led aggression.

In addition to building the strongest defensive system ever, Russia has developed a new range of nuclear attack weapons, designed to make the US pay dearly if it were to do something as stupid as to attack Russia:

      http://www.unz.com/tsaker/how-russia-is-preparing-for-wwiii/

Russia has been doing all it can to avoid war with America, despite constant provocation from America, including the expansion of NATO right up to Russia’s borders (in blatant contravention of Gorbachev-Reagan agreement), US meddling in and destabilisation of Ukraine, and more recently the movement of NATO troops and weapons close to the Russian border.

Yesterday it was reported that US tanks are being moved eastwards through Germany. It the American think they can win a tank war with Russia they are even more deluded than we think. Russian tanks, aircraft and missiles are superior to anything America currently has, or is capable of building. The US armaments industry is geared to large amounts of inferior quality products that need constant replacement (though such weapons are effective against largely defenceless nations).

Much as we would like the current military madness to end, that is extremely unlikely. Too much is at stake. The US dollar is dependent on America’s perceived military and economic might, and the maniacs in control of America would probably rather bring ruination to everyone than give up their ‘top dog’ position.

Only 4 months to wait. Obama will either cancel the ‘election’ and declare martial law before the end of the year, or Hillary will be installed as the POTUS who will lead America into catastrophe, or Trump will survive assassination attempts and there will be a popular revolution.

While we wait, everything that matters will continue to be made worse by those in power in NZ and elsewhere.

  3. Important analytical points are raised here, well complemented through the counterpunch and sputniknews articles. These are most essential themes for reflection, especially among ‘the left’, and they would require further practical derivation and mainstreaming through public dialogues.

Critical scientific practitioners could be most useful in providing an evidence-based environment for further theoretical and practical engagement.

De-americanization (in the context of blocking the notion of US-american exceptionalism) has to seek local initiative, initial focus on the ever-increasing presence of US-style ‘infotainment’ in public and private spheres; as well as global interaction with others affected by the Empire, initial focus on global militarization and dismantling of civil rights driven by the Empire (often coupled with trade/business practices in the overall imperial interest).

A well-organized conference with global outreach, bringing together participants worldwide from all places and localities where there is resistance against US military bases would certainly be an interesting undertaking.

  4. Japan is poised to hike its defense spending again, breaking the record for the fifth year in a row. The money would boost Tokyo’s ability to oppose Beijing in the South China Sea and protect itself from a possible missile attack by North Korea.

Prime Minister Shinzo Abe’s cabinet will require 5.17 trillion yen (US$50 billion) from parliament, the Japanese Defense Ministry announced Wednesday. If approved, it would translate into a 2.3 percent boost in the country’s defense spending. The Finance Ministry is yet to check the request before it is potentially sent to legislators.

One of the biggest portions of the military budget, about $1 billion, would go on upgrading Japan’s PAC-3 Patriot surface-to-air missile defense systems to increase range and accuracy for deployment in 2020, the submitted proposal stated.

The Japanese military also wants to develop a new submarine with advanced surveillance capabilities, work with the US on next-generation missile interceptors, station a 2,000-strong mobile amphibious unit near Nagasaki, and dispatch extra personnel in the Philippines and other Asian nations.

Tokyo may also purchase additional F-35 fighters jets from the US and develop better anti-ship missiles.

After coming to power in 2012, Abe overturned a decade of defense cuts and steered the country away from its post-World War Two pacifist stance by pushing for a larger role for the military. The increasing militarization is opposed by large sections of Japanese society, but the mood appears to be changing amid growing tension with North Korea and China.

Pyongyang recently demonstrated progress in its missile program, successfully launching a ballistic missile from a submarine earlier in August. Tokyo’s standoff with Beijing is focused on a chain of islands in the South China Sea, which both nations claim sovereignty over.

The Chinese claims are being challenged by Japan’s key military ally, the US, which has been sending warships and warplanes through the area. Earlier this month Beijing warned that if Tokyo joined the American “freedom of navigation” missions, it would “cross a red line.”

Japanese Foreign Minister Fumio Kishida last week told his Chinese counterpart Wang Yi during talks in Tokyo that Chinese vessels must stop violating Japanese territory around the disputed islands.
