  1. Three words come from reading this objective and reliable display of our health system’s tribulations.

They arise from the way that it represents governance and executive control over this complex system that must be people focussed, needing responsible, thoughtful concern for such a system taking in the professionals, to the cleaning staff, porters etc -and the very necessary information and organisational efficiency-providers at the front desk – they aren’t being cared for in a healthy way themselves.

Meanwhile the government floods the country with higher population growth than would be a natural one. This is done with insouciance by neolib fact-skippers- ideology-zombies enabled by our political and administrative systems to oppress us with. –
The three words are ====MAD, BAD, AND SAD.

  2. As laughter is supposed to be the best medicine I put this up as an antidote to anything poisonous that I have previously said. I note that Tom Lehrer lived to 97 and never married and had no children. It is perhaps a case of knowing too much, but his method of using his brain and satire in a crazy world could and should inspire us to better mental health and, likely to follow, better physical health and care. A society living and thinking well will result in positive wellness as a norm; at present fatheads increase.

Lehrer wrote and acted in a number of venues and ways, in a world where some tried to kill off his blood relations in one great herd cull throughout WW2 overshadowing all previous attacks. In his memory let us help to stop the return attack on other helpless people by survivors. And try to bring the world’s minds back to a healthy level of concern for our medical personnel. And Tom will be our Pied Piper. Shalom.

Tom Lehrer RIP died 26 July 2025 aged 97.

“In Old Mexico”This song is prefaced by a lengthy commentary about the (fictional) Dr. Samuel Gall, who gained fame and fortune from his “invention” of the gallbladder. Performed in the style of Mexican folk music, it describes the narrator’s memory of a trip to that country and his viewing of a bullfight.
The lyrics refer to three famous Spanish bullfighters, Belmonte, Dominguín, and Manolete, and also include a pejorative reference to Mexico as “the land of the wetback.”

  3. “Vance reported that Health New Zealand had been ordered to apologise after the Ombudsman found it acted unreasonably and unlawfully in withholding data that shows more than a third of all public hospital shifts in 2024 were understaffed. Subsequently a public apology was issued.”

National’s hatchet man is a serial liar and has made public health 10 x worse in NZ…
and yet somehow Trevor sees National as doing a great job and sees voters leaving Labour.
I’d suggest Trevor you learn from all your mistakes and not post again.

  4. This needs to be published again.
Events this week have overtaken every other news and opinion site and this is terribly important.
Most people are up to their necks in alligators anyway, with higher costs, unemployment etc. It’s hard to take more than a glancing interest in this sort of really gnarly writing. But, we need to. Thanks.
