  1. What does stream of consciousness produce from my mind when presented with ‘wage’ – the ‘wages of sin is death’. Is that an appropriate phrase for now? Actually I don’t think so. It smacks of puritan, purse-lipped meanness.

Now a social wage is what we need. And an honest attempt to ensure that there is an economic system still left out there for people to earn a living wage doing, even if is from a job that a couple share, so someone always being available for service at their work.

But this requires a good social plan and system administered with people in mind. Throw AI into the sea, except that it would be polluting, and there would be retaliation from angry investors who have been counting their chickens before they are hatched. Hah! If we can’t think of a human way to do something then we don’t need whatever it is. Schumaker – Small is Beautiful.

Small is Beautiful looks at the economic structure of the Western world in
a revolutionary way. For Dr Schumacher maintains that Man’s current
pursuit of profit and progress, which promotes giant organisations and
increased specialisation, has in fact resulted in gross economic
inefficiency, environmental pollution and inhumane working conditions.
Dr Schumacher challenges the doctrine of economic, technological and
. scientific specialisation and proposes a system of Intermediate
Technology, based on smaller working units, communal ownership, and
regional workplaces utilising local labour and resources. With the
emphasis on the person not the product, Small is Beautiful points the way
to a world in which Capital serves Man instead of Man remaining a slave
    to Capital.

  3. This is 12 years old from The Conchords and a Cure the Kids fundraiser. Perhaps they could tell us how the kids are now that they helped. Good news, hopefully.
The kids have ideas about what could be done that are almost as good as ours!
