  1. The amusing thing is that the Capitalists do not actually like capitalism to be applied to themselves. They prefer socialism for themselves, with the upper echelons being subsidised by the lower echelons .Like the rental sudsidy that basically benefits capitalist landlords. Like the food stamps in the U.S. paid for by the workers, and then used to enable Employers like Walmart to underpay their workers so that they have to use food stamps to survive. And the workers only get to enjoy the full impact of naked pitiless Capitalism !

To enlist a following, or convince enough people to create a movement you will have to set out your criticisms more clearly and more simply . not many will put in the time and mental effort to follow what you are saying here, as few can figure out what Marx himself was trying to explain directly from his own work. Like “If I can’t understand what he;s on about he must be a genius” “Better pretend I can understand and revere him least I’m considered stupid”
A good clear outline of the socio-economic-political structure you would advocate in place of the acknowledgedly badly flawed philosophy we have been following for the last 30 years might start some progress.

    1. David, did you understand it? If not, save the lecture and ask for clarification. Otherwise don’t assume that others are less intelligent than you.

      1. It’s about the time and effort people are likely to put in, not their intelligence.

      2. It is not the lack of intelligence it is all the political jargon and technical terms that scares the average mind.

As David says an mini map of what you suggest carefully explained so the average non political mind can digest it will go a long way.

        Cheers

Ps it ( The above) was a big read to inwardly digest.

        1. Geoff, You make a fair point.
Couldnt reply because of the 2 day Auckland blackout.
‘Capital’ was read by ordinary workers in Marx’s day. The French edition was serialised and could be read on the job.
Anyway, here is Michael Roberts’ latest on how inequality and exploitation in the market is derived from inequality in production.
