GUEST BLOG: 44year old mum – my first experience of Parliament
On Tuesday I watched Parliament in session.
I came to the conclusion that if we lowered the standard in school and only expected our kids to behave to the level of maturity of our MPs then school would be a heck of a lot easier for our special kids. In the mere hour I was there multiple MPs left the chambers for short times ….. we expect 6 year olds to go to the toilet in break times so surely the people discussing issues that impact real lives could do likewise!
We have to fight to get ASD kids the freedom to take sensory breaks if the class is over whelming yet here is this group of adults who can’t even stay in one room for an hour.
If a 6 year old can focus for an hour then these adults should!! The disrespectful body language, the eye rolling, the body positioning, the personal digs etc were ridiculous. Our kids would risk being stood down if they behaved like that.
Yesterday I watched my 3 year old and her friends at kindy mat time.
All her little friends showed more respect than the adults “representing” us! If ERO observed children behaving this way their teachers would be criticised yet our MPs get paid big bucks to do so.
Let’s also allow our children to only respond to topics of interest to them. NZ first and the Greens for example showed zero interest in being there to receive a petition from women dying from cancer, they couldn’t find the time for people who don’t have time. So lets change the education system accordingly.
If a child isn’t interested in maths let them send an impersonal form letter to the teacher and that will naturally excuse them. So lets change the school system! Lets lower standards and let our kids do as our MPs do. Suspensions will be down immediately as the behaviour our kids are being vilified for will actually be viewed as perfect.

Yep it is hugely disillusioning observing the antics of parliamentarians, and even worse marrying them to the fawning boot-licking of the MSM who seem to find it all acceptable. I guess the bottom line is that many of the players on both sides aren’t the brightest, or particularly honest.
I say ‘player’, because this is a game for most of them. You are right in identifying many politicians as only being concerned about their own niche interests when they are meant to be representing everybody. As a mum battling for your children you have probably worked harder,and for a greater good, than many of these ratbags would even know how, so well done.
