  1. It will go ahead because our politicians have been bought and paid for. The evidence against sea bed mining, which has prevailed several times in court, will be ignored. The profits will slip thru the fingers of Taranaki people, like black sand, and end in overseas pockets.

  2. Another factor is that the South Taranaki Bight is the logical position for offshore windfarms. Together with Hydropower this could provide all Aotearoa’ s electrical power from renewable, non-polluting sources by 2030.

    Of course seabed mining there would fuck that up and mean we have to keep burning coal and gas and providing profits to mining companies.
    You do not suppose these things are connected?
