Greenpeace are 100% right – National’s rare earth mineral deal with Trump is for the Military Industrial Complex

Preach!
Greenpeace targets PM’s office over possible NZ minerals deal with US
Pictures of US President Donald Trump, Prime Minister Christopher Luxon, and US flags have been plastered on the prime minister’s electorate office in the Auckland suburb of Botany on Thursday morning.
A sign which reads ‘Trump War Minerals HQ’ with a cutout of a bald eagle preying on a Kiwi bird was also put up outside the office.
Greenpeace has claimed responsibility.
In a statement, campaigner Juressa Lee said they were protesting a potential deal for New Zealand to supply rare and critical minerals to the US.
She said a minerals deal would lead to more mining projects, causing “environmental destruction”, and also make New Zealand complicit in the war in the Middle East.
RNZ
Greenpeace are 100% right.
This is being sold to us as the positive way to mine for those electric batteries us lefties love so much, but the truth is that this is for the American Military Industrial Complex, not EV Cars!
Look at the way Luxon has hidden the true nature of the negations…
New Zealand officials have had possession of a proposed framework with the United States on critical minerals since the start of December, following a meeting in Washington in which officials expressed “interest in an arrangement with the US”.
Just-released documents reveal Cabinet had been briefed on the topic and officials had negotiated amendments to the text prior to Prime Minister Christopher Luxon suggesting discussions were at a “very preliminary” stage.
Much of the information is redacted, but the papers show ministers have been advised about potential impacts on other international relationships, “especially China”, and of potential benefits from the framework.
Among the opportunities such a framework could provide New Zealand is direct funding from the US into critical mineral projects, “leading to increased economic activity and promoting New Zealand technology solutions”.
The Cabinet papers released today follow revelations in late January that New Zealand and the US were in discussions over a non-binding framework relating to critical minerals.
The Prime Minister attempted to water down talk that such a framework could soon be agreed, saying reporting had been “very speculative and ahead of itself” and “we haven’t made a Cabinet decision or had a fulsome discussion about it all”.
He said the US was having conversations with more than 40 countries on critical minerals and “we are part of conversations with lots of countries on issues like this”.
But the Cabinet document said that on November 21, New Zealand officials in Washington met with representatives from the US National Security Council and the Department of Commerce to “discuss critical minerals and express New Zealand’s interest in an arrangement with the US”.
NZME
… he has purposely misled us so that we don’t get angry at him cutting deals with Trump for their war machine!
National want to desecrate our environment for mining to feed the Mad Orange King’s Military Industrial Complex.
You either live on your knees or fight on your feet. We are NZers, not Yanky lickspittle quislings!

Are there no depths Luxon will not sink to? How on earth have we managed to scrape the bottom of the barrel with this lying, devious and distrustful Sneak? Why is nothing up for debate but hidden as if he believes only he can handle it? If Greenpeace, TDB and Helen Clark say it is all about a US Minerals Deal, then it is! Don’t kid yourselves this deal is for the good of NZ! Luxon et al will be long gone when the true damage becomes apparent! If Luxon wishes to be remembered he surely will – as the egotistical PM who destroyed NZ. Why are so many Kiwis Brain-dead and Witless?
You do not want more cows but you do want extra money for health and benefituries. The only think we have left is mining and selling it production to the highest bidder . With using strong environmental safeguards we can nave the mines and their income without destroying our beatty.
