  1. This has come to light to late to get people of their backsides and stand in council elections but I hope those that vote do due diligence on the background of those they vote for .

    1. I think anyone who is awake is (still the large minority are asking questions). I have completed changed my stance on who I vote for in local govt. I dig into what they stand for and how woke they are and cast my vote accordingly. The pale stale males are going to love me. I used to vote for women, poverty focussed types and minorities because they all needed a leg up but that worm has turned.

      1. There are good worms and not so good ones – interesting the ones that aren’t good are flat-earth worms! (NZ flatworms up to 17cm to be exact.)

I used to view worms lightly but now seriously, regarding them as good sorts for the garden and now looking after their needs. If only the NZ government and local bodies could take the same attitude to we citizens, regard us as good sorts and full of potential, and encourage NZers to be like good worms, we’d all have a wriggling good time and better gardens as well.

As for strange and fanciful or OTT ideas in local government, I suggest look for ones who stick to the knitting, aiming for a balance between seeing to the drains, maintaining good structures, having cultural needs budgets and a good but plain library, and encouraging people to limit wastes with reducing counts each year, and ensure that everyone can obtain transport of some kind, not just bikes, skateboards or legs. So much middle class ideas being espoused, a once size fits all, provided it is their all.

  2. Is it not a tad relative on whom the lunatics are? On the West Coast greenies are commonly looked upon with a certain disdain and certain pubs didn’t serve people who had the covid jabs. Pubs that seemed to do rather well business wise I might get add. Common sense is not a universal currency.

  3. Some of these turkeys aka Voices of Freedom want to get in to sabotage the very workings of councils, you know, silly things that councils do like providing fresh drinking water , sewer, roads, libraries, street lighting. What is it from Voices of Freedom? “make New Zealand ungovernable”. That ain’t freedom of speech, that is extreme criminal behaviour.

Our mental health system has an awful lot to answer for!

  4. Lol reap what we sow… it’s what you get when decide to create two classes of people… Media harassing people based on vaccine status, Driving hysteria at so called rule breakers, kicking people out of society and into the arms of the real nut cases… Dunno why anyone is suprised and it’s a good thing they’re at least participating in democracy, the run will be how they react when they dont win seats.

  5. Most people who get involved in politics do so for some issue or other that motivates them sufficiently to get involved so the VFF aren’t any different from any other candidates in this respect.
Though I was then too young to know what was going on my old man got himself onto the then Thanes District Council in order to have a bridge built and a stream diverted to enter the Waihau River instead of flooding all the farms down the Matatoki road every time it rained significantly. The job cost a few pounds less than his 200 pound budget so you can guess how long ago that was.
Soon after he got onto the Matatoki School committee in order to arrange for a disused school room at Orongo to be shifted to Add to the one room primary at Matatoki and so it happened.

  6. These ferals are just a pack of liars….and if they’re prepared to lie to us about covid/vaccination what else are they prepared to lie to us about

  7. “hiding your true intentions to insert yourself into the local structures of power so you can damage that system is not good faith democracy, it’s a dark and dangerous manipulation of our collective apathy.”

That goes doubly for every filthy neoliberal in parliament pretending to be a representative of the New Zealand people, rather than servants of Iblis. I thoroughly disagree with these cranks in regards the safety of vaccines in general, but they’re no worse than most politicians.

  8. Bunch of wankers VFF. But they are entitled to stand if they meet the various criteria any other candidate has to.

If they are not going to be upfront about what they stand for however, then they should be outed so voters have more chance of casting their vote as they intended, rather than find out down the track they have voted for obstruction and chaos!

Not being upfront with voters most famous recent example was Rogernomics in 1984, and it is rather obvious how that turned out for the NZ working class.

In some areas VFF candidates will probably get on school BOTs as a number of the parents in the North actually support the fruit loop approach to public health.

The base issue is wider participation is needed in politics by ordinary people rather than graspers, one issue fanatics and party hacks. 40% is considered a very good turnout in NZ Local Govt. elections.

    1. The sheriffs are coming!
      The sheriffs are coming!
What have National offered Tamaki and the density crowd?

What has an ultra-right leader of the National Party with a God-appointed place in the High Church offered Tamaki, ultra-right leader of a cult of personality, that tithes its flock?

Whatever the cost of this right-wing axis of evil, it’s going to be a difficult task putting the cork back in that genie bottle!

      The sheriffs are coming!

  9. Who doesn’t conceal hard core intentions when trying to get elected?
The Labour Party elected in’84 was full of extremist right wing moles.

    1. ACT-olytes in 1984, hid their real intentions too, just like the VFF want to do this time around.
The right-wing dirty politics cabal are good at hiding their intentions too.
How close are the right-wing behind Brian Tamaki Inc?
