  1. Most of the commentors on here think taxation is evil, and there should be no tax, and user pays and privatisation for everything.

  2. The expansion of the wealth of the already wealthy is based on arithmetic and maths. The more wealth in assets you have the more you can borrow to use as a capitalist and increase income. This is positive (or amplifying) feedback. It leads to exponential growth amplifying wealth of the wealthy. Those without wealth such as minimum savings have to buy minimum quantities thereby paying higher rates for essentials providing an example of negative (damping) feedback providing negative growth for the poor. Without some form of negative feedback there can be no stability. That is basic cybernetics. Negative feedback must apply to wealth. Thus FTT can be a suitable negative feedback control mechanism provided there are no loopholes.

  3. From Victor Billot, in The Newsroom

    Last Stand
    The Green banner flies proudly
    Over the remote desert fort.
It has been many long months
    Since the siege began
    On 14 October 2023.
The Green ranks are growing thin.
    Constant bombardment from the artillery
    Of King Luxon’s mercenaries;
    Mutineers and deserters gnaw
At the resolve of the defenders.
They have one bottle of water left.
They have two band aids kept aside.
They have three blank cartridges remaining.
But Captain Chlöe of the First Woke Hussars
    Battles on resolutely
    As waves of screeching dervishes
Painted in blue woad swarm the walls.
“We can’t hold out much longer,”
    Mutters Captain Chlöe
As she scans the horizon with her field glasses.
But yet – there coming over the horizon
Riding on a low emission mule:
    Reinforcements!
The remaining troops pull out semaphore flags
    And virtue signal desperately
At the lonely figure clopping towards them.
    “What have you got, comrade?”
    Shouts Captain Chlöe.
    “Water, bandages or ammunition?”
    Gunner Benjamin Doyle, MA,
Number 18 on the Green list,
Holds up a large cardboard box.
    Community intersectional reflexivity,”
    He replies, handing over
A complete set of his University of Auckland
    Research papers.

  4. Agree Martyn. Workers need to be more vocal and support political parties that support these policies:
    – Get rid of GST and all taxes on the working class. Tax the rich instead.
    – Free transport. Free Healthcare (including dental) and free Education including tertiary.
    – Free social housing for all workers.
-Free quality food (including at school) for all who need it
    – A basic income for all who cannot work (or choose not to work) set at the level of the living wage.

    1. Utopia for some paid for by those willing to take a risk and work hard or smart.I bet you vote Green and ride a bike .

  5. Skeksis gave Gelflings Lotto, casinos and reality television, surely can’t be so ungrateful as to want social justice too, hmmmm.
