    > But what about the propensity of vapers to deliver heroin, ecstasy, MDMA, P, even cannabinoids

What a grab bag. MDMA (or “ecstasy”*) – like cannabis and LSD – is significantly less harmful than alcohol or tobacco. While heroin and P are among the handful of substances more dangerous than alcohol. See the work by Nutt et al in the Lancet, which took into account both personal and social effects of recreational drug consumption.

Synthetic cannabinoids were not included in the study, about the only thing we can say with certainty is that they are far more harmful than herbal cannabis. In extreme cases synthetics have been lethal, which the natural herb alone has never been.

Pills can be a delivery mechanism for all manner of substances, from harmless (we assume) vitamin supplements to lethal doses of opiates. The same is true of vaping equipment, as it is of pipes. Vapes include types that uses liquids, and those that vapourize active ingredients off ground up herbs, so a lot of the concerns about possible risks from the carrier liquid don’t even apply to all vapes. Nicotine liquid can be regulated, as can vaping liquids carrying more harmful substances, or less harmful substances (eg real cannabis), in keeping with the available evidence for real harm.

    * ecstasy is supposed to be pure MDMA in a neutral tablet base. Because of prohibition, all manner of things are sold as “ecstasy” on the black market, with no quality control, or Consumer Guarantees Act.
