Does Simon Bridges love of China extends to opening NZ up to the Wuhan Virus?
Simon Bridges sure does love China.
He has an alleged Chinese spy in his caucus.
That alleged spy went outside normal protocols to arrange for Simon to meet the head of the Chinese secret Police when Bridges visited China and after that, Simon sang the praises of China despite the Muslim internment camps China has set up.
On top of Simon’s deep love affair with China, the National Party as a whole have MPs who have private business arrangements with Chinese businessmen.
So National’s love affair with China is well established, but what might surprise everyone is that Simon Bridges loves China SOOOOOOOOOO much that he wants to keep the borders open while the Wuhan Virus is running amok…
Coronavirus: Simon Bridges calls China’s consul general’s comments ‘concerning’, ‘regrettable’
National Party leader Simon Bridges believes it’s “concerning” the China consul general made comments about the Government’s decision to bar foreigners travelling from China for fear of spreading the coronavirus.
The Government announced on Sunday that any foreign travellers who leave or transit through China will be refused entry to New Zealand.
China’s consul general in Auckland, Ruan Ping, told RNZ on Monday the sudden decision could hurt the country’s economy – and that would also be bad for New Zealand.
Ruan said two days ago he was talking to Foreign Minister Winston Peters, who apparently said that New Zealand will maintain a normal flow of people between the two countries.
“However, just overnight, New Zealand changed its mind. And I think the trade… should be based on normal exchanges of people. [New Zealand] then cut off the normal flow of people and it will kill economic cooperation,” he told Morning Report.
“The Chinese people are now isolating the coronavirus, but New Zealand is… joining efforts to isolate the Chinese economy. That’s why I feel very disappointed.”
Bridges then came out swinging on Monday afternoon, and said Ruan’s comments were “concerning to see”.
“It’s concerning to see the comments of the consul general, that Minister Peters has effectively said there will be normality in relation to travel arrangements and the like, and then to see the change so quickly after that,” he said at a media stand-up.
“That’s a regrettable position to have our largest trading partner making those sort of comments and being alarmed at the messaging behind the scenes. And then the change publicly only 24 hours or thereabouts after it.”
Bridges believes the Government’s “flip-flop” with China is one “we wouldn’t want to see” because it’s a large trading partner.
He said the economic impacts will “undoubtedly have an effect in New Zealand”.
“We look at New Zealand, there are many sectors that are already feeling the effects. Top of that list has to be tourist operators.”
…Simon’s need to make this a political point scoring event means he is advocating for China’s interests and not the safety of the New Zealand public.
Such an alarming attempt to manipulate a situation into political advantage was astonishing enough after Bridges met and praised a Nazi apologist and then claimed Labour was anti-semitic, but to openly back China (when there are serious questions over their honesty in regards to the Wuhan virus) over our own public safety has got to be one of the most interesting election strategies I’ve ever seen.
China is taking this stance with us and not Australia, Britain, Canada or America because it has to make an example of one Western country while it is so sick.
Watching Simon Bridges advocate for Beijing over Wellington is jaw dropping.

Yes,… I posted that one on The Standard a few times where I called him ‘Screechy Simon’. I couldn’t believe the obnoxious arrogance , speaking over the interviewer, attacking the interviewer and general self righteous belligerence.
I thought ‘if this is the sort of caliber of the National party ,… it just demonstrates the sheer bullheaded arrogance of them ‘ . And those who display those qualities are not fit for leadership , as a leader must FIRST be a servant. A servant to other people. A facilitator, – not a dictator.

Winston Peters is right about Simon Bridges i.e he(Bridges)is like a dog that barks at anything and everything.
The NZ National Party courtship of China and its multi-millionaires has been going on for many years. They(National)want to maintain that working relationship because they(National)obviously do depend upon the donations from wealthy Chinese.
Which could well confirm the so-called charges by the SFO that were recently made public obviously do not apply to Simon Bridges, The NZ National Party and of course the Chinese multi-millionaires who have donated heavily in the past to National.
Either that or in some unethical way National are depending upon a massive virus outbreak here in NZ in attempt to rid NZ of a population they(National)deem lowly citizens. In other words National may well behave like the NAZI Party in eliminating those they deem ‘below acceptable intelligence or merit the need for existence…”.

China is only hash on us. Toady, China’s consul general in Jeju, South Korea said Jeju authority’s decision is understandable, after the island banned free-visa policy for Chinese nationals, which effectively banned all Chinese nationals.
Kowtowing to China won’t give us a good relationship. Look the evacuation timeline, NZ is still at the bottom of the list, even after Jordan, Turkey and Taiwan.
