  1. Lol, you think this government are going to bring restrictions back?

    Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahah

It’s not politically palatable to do that now, and the even funnier thing is, you know that. It was only about health for a few months, then it became what worked for them politically. You want proof? Look around you.

  2. This will bring out the denial idiots. My son in Melbourne listens to NZ radio and cannot believe the constant reference to covid compared to Melbourne dispite the high death rate there. The World is in a form of denial which will have serious concequences especially for the elderly and immune compromised .

  3. I’m inclined to not take these statistics at face value (yes I’m vaccinated thanks).
These figures are for the elderly I think? or at least skewed that way eg older = sicker with each infection, plus there is often a reason some people are prone to more infection than others (immune compromised already) and so on.
    Correlation vs causation.
I’d want to read the study in detail. Media loves to cherry pick for dramatic effect, they don’t give a shit about balance or helping people understand.
And there has been shocking cherry picking of the scant available science by both governments and “believers” and anti vax “unbelievers”.

    1. I am no anti vaxxer but the figures have been corroborated in various countries. Sadly it will affect the elderly most because they have worn out immune systems, hearts etc but it has also been having severe repercussions in some in their 20’s and 30’s. Has been most talked about in those who require peak fitness for their work such as athletes, divers etc. Covid is a nasty disease regardless of how mild it is.

Very early in the pandemic, I was reading all that I could about it and came across something written by a ?? cardio thoracic? surgeon and he was explaining that it is within the veins and causes like mini explosions (inflammation reaction) throughout the veins and that was why so many people were not responding to ventilation because the minute capillaries and things in the lungs were all effed up. Also for others, there were clots forming throughout the body in various organs and veins etc.

So it annoys me when people say it is just a cold.

Our mistake was diving into dodgy vaccines in a panic but they were right to be concerned about it just as they were right when they said Covid was not going to go away anytime soon. I was giving it ten years to mutate itself and be overtaken by herd immunity but unfortunately, it is mutating in such a way that it doesnt deliver herd immunity so Sweden’s much lauded approach was as much a wash as ours and the future is very uncertain. Afterall, it was being grown in a lab as a possible Bio weapon so it was never going to be a complete walk in the park.

The other bit of news that seems to be being borne out currently is that the risk of severe side effects from covid infection grows in relation to the number of vaccine doses you have had. Saw some European research the other day which seemed to be pretty clear on this but we may need to wait another month or two for corroborating studies.

I am keeping a lower profile but still going here and there selectively and hope to remain Covid free for as long as possible while still enjoying a relatively normal life. But as a family we have decided that after 3 doses we are dunzo. It looks like taking your chances is a better option at this stage.

      1. No argument that it’s not fun, but notice the emotive language the surgeon used to describe a vasculitis -something other viruses can cause too.
And for a while we were all horrified covid was shrinking everyone’s brain – something also attributed to other viral infections too.
Yeah it’s it’s own thing but it is still a virus and our body fights it like other viruses.
I was one at the outset who said a vaccine for a coronavirus may very well not be a magic bullet – due to the properties of said viruses they don’t make great vaccines unlike day smallpox or measles which make very strong immunity. Still got vaxed because it looks like it helped lessen severity.
Death rate to omicron is now higher than seasonal flu by 2-3 x but not the 10 fold death rate feared from earlier strains, and that does put it in a bracket similar to a bad flu outbreak year so some direct comparisons are perfectly fair in my opinion.
So I’d like to see where these figures came from, I trust “dr someone” on the internet no more than anyone else, look at the politicizing of science our own Dr pink hair did.

    1. Posting a twitter link with no accompanying information and still expecting people to click on the link?

      That’s so pre-Musk.

  4. Had Covid twice. The first was worst. The sickest of the house had less systems the second time around then the rest of the house.
