The manner in which social media school chambers have radicalised voters into Qanon militia speaks to a deeper wound and is reminiscent of the way global Muslim youth were radicalised in the 1990s and 2000s thanks to online Jihadist recruitment videos.
Citizens should feel angry and cynical at a system that is rigged in favour of the rich!
That shouldn’t shock or surprise us, that is the reality!
The danger now is the extremism that social media hate algorithms has manufactured.
Let me be as clear as I can be to my fellow comrades of the Left, if we allow woke activists and woke politicians to drag us into a culture war, we on the left will lose the next election!
Social media algorithms have allowed for a toxicity of debate that is easily manipulated. A symphony of sweaty truths all screaming for attention and no one listening. Woke Identity Politics activists have seized the joy of having no gatekeepers to express how much they hate white men while alt right Incel Nazi’s have seized upon the joy of having no gatekeepers to express how much they hate everyone else.
Millennial woke culture sees macro violence coming from micro aggressions and piously police those micro aggressions with virtue signalling purity mantras.
Alt Right Incel Nazis see white persecution and create some bullshit replacement narrative to justify their powerlessness and feed that resentment online.
Most people are on social media and most people have a woke activist or Qanon fanatic in their social media feed screaming their feverish truths. While these activists certainly think they are speaking truth to power by endlessly calling people out for breaches of woke mantra or fake news anti Trump lies, to everyone else they are simply toxic.
People stop seeing the political party and only see the activist and in the end proxification means the activist becomes the proxy representation of the Party, and seeing as people have negative feelings towards the proxy, they turn from the Party.
Voters aren’t voting on policy, they are voting on who made them feel resentful on social media!
The political is the personal now means what hurts me personally becomes political.
Before social media activists could only face each other off at protests or through letters to the editor or talkback radio. There were constraints of interaction but with social media there are none and it turns out the freedom to insult and dehumanise others is more addictive than nicotine, alcohol and meth combined.
Wokeness has become a puritanical religion with none of the beauty – it’s not so much the personal virtue signal, we are all dicks at times, it’s the weaponization by algorithms that make it so dangerous and damaging.
The danger of identity politics is that it locks people intellectually into only defining the world through their skin colour, genitalia or sexual orientation – it also becomes toxically subjective and tribal where the only solidarity is with other people who share the skin colour or genitalia or sexual orientation- without shared truths and values, the 1% and their 9% enablers continue to divide the rest of us 90%.
If the Left can’t find universal policy that everyone can rally around, the culture war ammunition our mild class woke activists hand to the Right will continue to win for them.
The polarised fringes made insane by social media hate algorithms will still support NZF and ACT but it is the middle voter in National who will feel tainted by being associated with these lunatics who will be feeling ready barely 6 months after the election to vote Labour.
The economy is on the slide, the OCR will go up not down and geopolitical shockwaves are on their way.

You need to find an actually Left Wing party that cares (and will actually deliver real improvements to every day Kiwis, not just empty promises & hot air). In about a year’s time when Luxon is even lower in the polls and looking even weaker in the eyes of the electorate he could be faced with a choice. A new election or step aside for Winston to shore up National’s center and finally become the first Maori PM. CTU is holding meetings around NZ for delegates and members to discuss policy we want out of the political left. This must be applauded as Labour specifically needs to be held accountable. Firstly the leadership must change. Nine months and Hipkins did nothing with a 20 seat majority. Core union values need to be demanded like the right to strike, multi-employer bargaining and the need to conclude bargaining. FPA without the bureaucratic rubbish would also help those at the bottom of the earnings scale.
It seems to me that the Labour party is blaming a poor campaign but the truth is they did no transformative changes to child poverty, housing, health system and poor education stats.
This bastard government no has free licence to screw over Maori, the poor and reward the rich. We need to fight back now.

It’s a pity that the only political party with any seats in Parliament with a patriotic anti-globalist and economically socialist vision is the Maori party, given the ease of with which the regime media can represent its policies as opposed to the interests of non-Maori New Zealanders. In many a previous post, you’ve articulated admirably the dozen or so planks the left need to continuously publish. All the left needs to do, is continue this line of attack. Each time the government adds another nail in its coffin, re-emphasise our message, and above all, re-emphasise the difference and whom our policies would benefit.
It’s only by showing consistency, that the left will bring an early end to the coalition of chaos.
If our policies, as have been articulated, are affordable, and attack proof, they’ll withstand any scrutiny and BS counter-arguments. If they aren’t, they’ll fail – deservedly.
So rather than tilt at windmills, let’s all of us organise and start the campaign. We have a bloody government to win back.

Real life problems for real life people trying to simply live in a simple way. And some hints if you become homeless and hopeless and just have to look after yourself in the hellfare state of NZ. Take note because after THEY have cleaned you out that is all you will have left, your survival note. And the problems won’t be solved by just providing housing. And it has to be, if provided, suitable for the person using it.
It has to be accepted that some need to have white-washed concrete buildings with concreted interior walls and slightly sloping floors so they can be hosed out. No glass in the windows, shutters for night and bad weather, and insect screens for the day. There needs to be a central office with amenities, and secure lockers with cameras so that the useful needed possessions or even the remainder left from a better past life can be secure and available when they have to move on.
People aren’t just leaves blowin’ in the wind, but could in some cases seem more like snails carrying all their possessions with them, along with memories and survival instinct. A bit of pleasure, game of cards, a couple of beers sometimes would be good, and being able to smoke somewhere – allowed by a reasonable society not a bunch off stiff-necked puritans and prosy preachers. What are we saving ourselves for? If they get emphysema it just takes them earlier than some other unpleasant degenerative illness.
Expected to do some organised community work, pulled out in emergencies for some basic but useful job; expected to do something at least once a year and possibly build up to once a week, would be good and end up good for all concerned.
