New Zealanders face legal action for allegedly causing cancellation of Lorde Israel concert
Two New Zealanders are being sued for allegedly convincing Lorde to cancel her performance in Israel.
Jewish New Zealander Justine Sachs and Palestinian New Zealander Nadia Abu-Shanab wrote an open letter to the Kiwi pop sensation asking for her to boycott her Israeli tour dates.
The two argued the concert would show support for Israel’s occupation of Palestine.
An Israeli legal rights group called Shurat HaDin said it is suing the two Kiwis.

The Daily Blog was the first blog to ask Lorde to boycott your country, the bloody Spinoff just jumped on board our wagon a day later.
You don’t want to sue them, you want to sue us!
They are a hipster middle class blog that sucks up to banal TV culture while having the pretension of an angry under grad feminist. Suing them gives them far more credit than they deserve.
You should be suing us instead! It’s unfair to give The Spinoff the privilege of being singled out when we despise what you do to the Palestinian people so much more than they do.
Your brutal, racist, hate baiting war crimes against the Palestinian people demands that any artist worth any credibility should shun you like the cultural lepers you are.
Look, we even called on WOMAD to dump one of your pretend artists from their line up, so surely if you are going to start suing anyone in NZ, it really should be us.

Israel hasn’t learned that New Zealanders don’t take kindly to being bossed around – especially by a foreign power. Our American cuzzies learned that in the 1980s.

Good luck to them, Pete. We don’t even like our own government(s) telling us when/where we can get pissed by controlling our liquor outlets and opening-hours. I don’t like Israel’s chances of pushing us around on other issues.
Can I be sued too? I’m a reader of the daily and supported their position before the Spinoff published their piece. I provided moral support to the daily blog and demand that I be ahead of the Spinoff in the cue of people being sued.

Has any of this furore had any real legs? For me the more interesting story will be see if various venues have cancelled Lorde, her sales are down, and other boycotts of her music from pressure from Jewish lobbies. Has any/some of that happened, or are is the Jewish “outrage” been fairly well contained?
