Farrar’s defence of this red neck race baiting hatred was particularly hilarious – he claims we need change because people are anxious about the Treaty – but David, they’re only anxious about the Treaty because right wing attack dogs like you make them anxious about the Treaty!

For those not paying attention.

The Treaty is not a between races, it’s between the Crown and Māori!

There are two versions, an English version and a Māori version.

Most Māori signed the Māori version.

The Māori version doesn’t cede sovereignty.

We are signed up to UN Human Rights that state when there are two treaties, the version in the indigenous language takes precedence.

The Treaty Principles were an attempt to recognise that  and create the framework within which Māori and Pakeha can work together.

Replacing the Treaty Principles with ones that don’t directly compel the Crown to work with Māori would undo all the work of the last 185 years just so ACT can implement a very narrow Libertarian philosophy on property rights which will open the door to mass privatisation.

So far it’s been a searing criticism of the whole process and I think National ACT and NZF have horribly misread this and Kiwis actively supporting it are racists masquerading as patriotic defenders of democracy

Watching Civil Society vs redneck banjo twanging cross burners week in and week out for 6 months is going to benefit ACT and the cost of NZF and National while providing the Left a true rallying point.

Increasingly as this debate proceeds, those Kiwis supporting this will be increasingly alienated and outed as naked racists pretending their concern about Democracy isn’t about their bigotry.

The ignorance between those in favour of this appalling legislation vs the intelligence of those who are countering it is blistering.
