    1. @Ken: But but but. Better late than never though and let’s hope it’s genuine.
Maybe you (or your namesake), and Lilith/Gareth, and Jim Mora’s little gal could get together and compose the Labour/Green/Te Pati Maori’s coalition campaign music. No need then to have to suffer the humility of a Peters/grifter-retail politician-Dr Porky type spat afterwards.
I don’t expect the perfect specimen from the political class. Just not complete absolute muppets such as those we have now strutting their seriously ugly egos around the motu.

  1. Now that Chippy has laid out how things work it’s upto his MPs to go out and find out if he’s correct.

    1. Well…at the end of the day…the giant pyramid scheme called N.Z’s housing market has to collapse like a pack of cards…

We now have Key going on national television stating that the average house price will be $1.8 million in 10 years time..

Using that logic, for houses to remain affordable to New Zealand born hardworking Kiwis, ( intergenerational silverspooners
excluded), the average household income will need to be $ $600,000 …
      per annum.

There’s your datum to work from.

If that is not going to be possible, then radical change is required now…

      Right now!!!

  2. i haven’t too much to say against the speech contents but do not believe that Hipkins, based on his track record, has earned the right to be the one making it.

  3. ABH club, if it was anyone but Hipkins this would be a decent Labour speech.

  4. Can’t help wondering if this positioning by Hipkins to be slightly critical of the destruction of our economy, is just an excuse for his successor to go full Starmer, to push even more extremist neoliberalism than how Hipkins and Ardern actually ruled after he gets rolled.

  5. Such a principled politician that Hipkins, he’s got new ones every week.

    1. Now now, Hipkins is doing it hard right now, he’s feeling the impact of a $300k pay cut. Really getting in touch with the rest of us proles who aren’t even ‘earning’ $180k a year.

    2. He’s not wrong about National and Willis math skills though.

  6. Speeches don’t cut it when clearly you can’t walk the talk.

Just remember everyone, it was only last week (when Labour opposed a bill seeking to remove GST from food and non acholic beverages) that Labour showed us their true colours.

Now we are expected to believe they have changed? Yeah right.

Can’t see many voters falling for this crap.

  7. It’s too late baby now it’s too late we really did try to make it but something inside has died and I just can’t fake it ….yep, I too have joined the Greens.
I still can’t get the image of Hipkins telling us about his fucked up stupid disappointing Captains Calls. WTF

    1. There is speculation that Tangi Utikere and Arena Williams are 2 potentials to be in the next leadership and deputy line up

  8. Is there a test for establishing truthiness in politicians? Is there a vaccination against false assertions and schizophrenic seizures? Pollies are deluded slightly from the start in thinking they might do anything much but of recent decades the malaise has turned into chronic malfunction. But keep giving artificial resuscitation or is it respiration; the body may jerk into life again but possibly the prognosis is that some mental disturbance may cause failure after the reanimation; a bit like forgetfulness after a heart stroke.

They know about this in the USA.
    Memory Loss
American Stroke Association https://www.stroke.org › … Whakamāoritia tēnei whārangi
15 Māe 2019 — Symptoms of memory loss after a stroke may include:
Confusion or problems with short-term memory; Wandering or getting lost in familiar…

  9. Better late than never I suppose, but Labour has been betraying the working class for years now so excuse my cynicism. And I guarantee they are still chasing the middle-class vote rather than those of the working class who don’t vote. So Hipkins can kiss my arse. At least until I see some actual policy that benefits ordinary people.

  10. David Parker has had two goes at getting changes to taxation over the line .He is by far the best and hardest working polititian in NZ .He was fucked over on both times because they thought they might lose votes .Well they lost votes because they fucked him over.
Not that this lot of muppets will go even close to transforming the economy .
Millions dumped down the river dumped already with the money spent on ferries ,rail and 3 waters now wasted .The money spent on planning is not wasted unless the project gets scrapped .National scrapped all 3 so it is they who wasted those billion dollars .

  11. What, your keyboard.

At this point in time, Chippy’s the best we have. Labour chopped and changed leaders between 2008 and 2017, and it didnt get them anywhere.

  12. Hipkins=’Tony Blair in …hush puppies’…..’always be sincere,….even when you don’t really…mean it!’
