Why the hell are we allowing a foreign country to take our water for free? Isn’t it enough that our Government’s slavish worship of the free market allows bugger all measures to stop our land from being flogged off to foreigner interests, but are we allowing our water to be taken as well?

It’s funny watching a bunch of people who have been forced out of their respective news organisations because of the internet reducing ad revenue starting their own online news source. We are seeing the sub contracting out of news services to other groups at arms length from the parent news organisation in a desperate attempt to stay alive and keep credibility in an age where there is nothing but contempt for corporate news.

With the Cult of Hyper Individualism, “taking Personal Responsibility” is the corollary of the “Small State” and reduced government services. The Right demand Personal Responsibility from everyone. (So when an individual ‘fails’, the fault – and responsibility – must lie with him/her, rather than the State’s tilting the playing field toward the rich and the powerful.)
Trump’s mis-use of the term “fake news” – to attack and dismiss as untrue, actual news stories – is a corruption of the term for his own purposes. Trump’s actions, statements, tweets, and behaviour has all received media attention – and quite rightly so. Trump is no longer a private individual and his actions and words are no longer unimportant. As the elected leader of the United States, much of what he says and does will be reported.
