The sooner we start planning for this to be a worst case scenario event, the sooner we can prepare for that worst case scenario.
The moment that the Left wing have been dreading is now upon us. Since the intellectual capitulation by the Lange Government to the neoliberal revolution, the Left have been philosophically stillborn when it came to a counter to free market globalisation. On the left we have ignored class and the economic hegemony for Identity Politics fads.
Can we acknowledge this is dangerous yet or will I get cancelled for suggesting this isn’t a bloody identity politics issue but a public health threat and economic crisis?
National out of power are showing us that free of the responsibilities of Government, they still can’t get their fucking act together!
We are getting suspended markets now – that’s a flashing warning sign – I think shit is rapidly unwinding at a speed Governments are barely responding to.
If this is how the country is dealing with a mere 5 cases confirmed, what happens when it becomes a pandemic?
Beyond the human damage and economic implosion this is going to cost until a vaccination is actually produced, the philosophical and political criticisms to free market globalisation which has given crumbs and suicide nets to many while amassing enormous wealth for a Transnational few will start sounding louder as the pandemic deepens…
…we should be ashamed a Casino banned a philosopher from speaking because free speech is now defined by the Invisible Council of Enlightened Outrage!
Under Identity Politics, an ally is just someone who hasn’t oppressed or triggered you yet.
