Deconstructing Headlines

There are a number of electorates which are crucial in this election and could show some deep changes in the NZ political landscape.

At some stage NZers have to acknowledge that National’s much vaunted managerial skills are all smoke and mirror bullshit and that Labour’s investment of $19billion over four years into our social infrastructure is a far better response to health underfunding than 2 big mac combos worth of tax cuts each week.

Labour announcing a vast new subsidy to keep health care as cheap as possible while National rage against freedom campers.

Trump’s haphazard lunacy could trigger a market correction which would damage our economy before the election.    

Jacindamania isn’t going away because what Jacinda is projecting as a leader is real emotional connection to an empathy that voters are desperate to feel.

A new Government in NZ should adopt a very different leadership on the foreign affairs stage and symbolic gestures like bringing our SAS home and pulling out off Afghanistan to demand action for peace would be a good start. 

It just keeps getting worse doesn’t it?

The mainstream narrative of the budget surplus and future warnings for the economy that were revealed in last weeks PREFU were sold to voters as  ‘no room for election lolly scramble’. There was much that the mainstream media wilfully ignored in the PREFU.

I back my good friend and hopefully future leader of NZ one day, Councillor Efeso Collins, in his righteous smack down of Easter trading laws in Auckland on The AM Show this morning.

I’m voting Greens because I stand with Metiria and because they are the only Party who are actually promising to do something about poverty in this country. Labour are too gutless and spineless to increase welfare, the Greens have the courage to do that. 

Unfortunately I’m not sure the Greens will be able to get to the finish line without self-mutilating themselves into oblivion.
