Deconstructing Headlines

Every time I see the Greens in the news headlines now it feels like the nervousness you get when the kids take the car out for a drive. You know it’s going to come back written off with a whole bunch of excuses and explanations that it was someone else’s fault.

Pacifying China until the new government can detach our economy from China’s dominance by replacing dairy with forestry and greater industry diversification will be a big challenge but Winston has the skill to pull it off while the Greens must adapt or die if they want to remain politically relevant post 2020.

This is NZ in the 21st Century, a selfish child easily spooked into spite.

Let’s call the last 9 years of National’s rule what it really was – class-austerity. A draconian policy that destroyed the most vulnerable but because media are middle class they never saw it and allowed them to get away with it.

I think this would be a clusterfuck of counter productive outcomes that would make things far worse than this well intentioned but hopelessly deluded call to ban pokies.

The new Government and our Intelligence Agencies are painfully aware of what National’s ‘put all our cows in one Beijing paddock’ has done to us and will go to great lengths in not antagonising China publicly while frantically working behind the scenes to minimise the threat China poses to our economy.

The obviousness of this hollowing out of public services and the social damage their property speculation, draconian welfare reforms and mass migration has created are no longer hidden but the contemptuous denial by 44% of the voting electorate means none of this will be acknowledged. 

We need to reject this attempt to differentiate the poor from the utterly destitute because it’s a mere political illusion that pretends to be doing something when in reality it is only allowing the problem to get more damaged.
