I would argue that Folau’s Instagram post was stupid speech (as opposed to hate speech) and it also seems a little hollow for Qantas to attack Folau, because they are partnered to Qatar Airways and Emirates. Qatar imprisons  homosexual acts, and the UAE punishes homosexuality with the death penalty.

It’s easy to scream at a Pacific Island Rugby player over conservative religious opinions on social media but far harder to stand up to actual state sponsored repression against gay communities.

This won’t be about personal freedom, this will be about the State culling the weakest amongst us. 

Our top spook agency has misled the only civilian oversight they are forced to comply with and actively attempted to prevent that only check and balance from seeing the full scope of evidence over an alleged war crime. This is an extraordinary abuse of power, yet the opportunity paint Hager out as a liar seemed more important to news producers. 

We know that the Ministry for Vulnerable Children was a simplistic neoliberal solution to the complexity of poverty and child abuse. Focusing on rescuing children from environments that big data predict are abusive rather than the wrap around services a whanau requires to keep their child is a cost cutting measure.

Iran is not our enemy. American foreign policy is.

I don’t think our gun nut community have appreciated how the rest of us have tolerated their fetish and that after the white supremacist atrocity in Christchurch, we aren’t  tolerating it any longer.

The vast majority of those who have attempted suicide will of course be broken men. The twitter feminists will scream they’re all rapists, the trans activists will scream they’re all transphobic, Green MPs will engage in competitive outrage olympics to show how many more threats they’ve received, woke activists will decry all males as free speech Nazis while  The Spinoff writers will compete in a tournament of who hates men the most.

Then we wonder why men self harm and destroy themselves in the vast numbers they do. It is clear to anyone and everyone that something terribly wrong has happened to men and our sense of collective masculinity.
