The fear was always that Covid gets into NZ via a means that us so gloriously incompetent that the voters turn violently on the Government, that moment looks like now.

The grace, skill, determination and mastery of the Games in all its facets is a thing of beauty and allows us to briefly see peaceful human competition and collaboration with no higher horizon than the best is probably us as a species at our greatest.

New Zealanders don’t understand that the representative democracy they interact with once every 3 years is merely a masquerade of democracy, a pretense to keep you voting and giving the process the flimsiest of legitimacies, the real powers are the Wellington bureaucracy and a Party’s success is determined purely by how much they can force the Wellington bureaucracy to actually implement policy.

We need to be kinder to individuals and crueler to Corporations.
