  1. So Greenpeace lets not talk about city pollution of waterways just the nasty farmers.
David Parker has taken the only option he had, to back off his dictatorial approach of deciding in Wellington how all farmers will farm down to specific dates that crops were to be planted regardless of where in the country they were, what altitude and regardless of contour. A “one size fits all” edict.
All totally unworkable this reduced the Minister to justified personal ridicule for demonstrating his total disconnect with the reality of climate, soil and farming variations across the country.
Each NZ province has differing climate, for the main part each farm has different contour and soil types. NZ is not the North America Prairie with miles and miles of uniformity.
Timing of planting of crops is in the first instance determined by soil moisture content and in the second soil temperature. Those two conditions vary with locality and altitude and are different year to year on the same property. No two years are the same. Let alone those who try to be “regenerative” and plant under moon cycles.
So first a big thanks to David Parker for seeing sense.
Now to the Greenpeace demand “get rid of the cows” right now that is just not going to happen!
Why, well under Jacinda and her green and covid strategies, fairly much every other sector of the “earning” economy has been decimated, Energy going to be gone, Tourism gone with no look of any return soon, foreign students, gone and no where for them live if they were allowed back, manufacturing running slow due high electricity costs, now because of closed borders the film industry is packing its bags.
So hey whats left to pay the bills, only farming and forestry!!
We as NZ are back to living off the land!!
Back where we were in the 1970’s before “Think Big” only then the land had to support 2.5m people, now that same (actually less land) has to support 5m people
So economics dictate the outcome, not green ideology
So sorry Greenpeace, we have to ‘pay the rent’ some how.
First and foremost and the cows pay the rent, the fact is you can only be “green” if you are “Rich” and NZ is no longer “Rich”
