Australian election wipes away an arsehole – still pretty crap though

Scotty Morrison lost because he was such an arsehole EVEN AUSTRALIANS couldn’t stand him – when a former prison colony gets sick of your authoritarianism while being burnt off the face of a climate crisis planet, you tie your kangaroo down sport.

The convoluted and insane voting system of Australia allows for back door dealings with vast vested interests and when those interests are so entrenched within mining they are always self-interested, that’s why real climate change has been impossible within the Australian system.

This has allowed conservative rural Australian cultural values to endlessly hold the balance of power alongside big mining interests.

For NZ, we need to see if our citizens will continue to be treated like shit in Australia and the ongoing 501 tsunami of criminals who are fuelling the gang war here.

Geo-politically Australia will continue to be America’s Sherif in the Pacific.

The challenge for Labor will be the adoption of an economy less reliant on mining for climate change purposes right at a point when the global economy melts down.

Because of Australia’s vast mineral wealth, the ‘lucky country’ has never experienced a true recession, so how will Australia fair fare when their luck runs out?

There won’t be any prawns left to throw on the barbie once the global depression hits.

  3. Australia now must ban all kiwis from escaping NZ to a better place. Stop the visa free relocation. Force the people wanting to flee NZ to stay which will make them vent their anger at the right person. She needs to know. The pressure cooker will blow a top. It has to happen.

  8. I can’t help but wonder whether the Chinese, Indian’s, et al will stop buying all that Aussie coal because Climate Emergency…!

    I think the Aussie economy will continue to thrive built on all mineral wealth as the rest of the world just rolls on.

    What I suspect will happen is the wealth gap between NZ and AU will continue widen, we will see more of our best and brightest leave as the NZ economy stagnates as all those self congratulatory virtuous policy’s that won’t change a thing at the planetary level bite, making NZ a rather dreary, poorer and less intelligent.

    2. I’m all for people leaving NZ… except make sure it’s permanently. The rule I want to see put in place is that if you choose to leave you also relinquish give your citizenship and thus never allowed back into this country (other than as a tourist). You made your own bed, and now go lie in it. Goodbye and good luck, but you ain’t coming back!

  9. I will be very surprised if Labour change tack on the 501s as the concept is very popular in Australia . Many here do not understand it is not just NZ criminals that are sent home it applies to all nationalities.
    Labour in charge will have a poor effect on NZ as wages in the public sector will climb and we will lose many more teachers and medical staff due to our poor wages .

      I know he was against an increase and not cancelling it which is a huge shame.

      One thing is for certain, A National win in Aussie and NZ means business as usual and not in a good way.

    I imagine they will get in behind the Mulloon initiative which has been heralding a different way of handling water on farmland for decades, and for a long time was not considered by politicians who probably were more interested in mining. I’m reading an old Pilger on Australia and see Bondy in WA was one of the Silver guy’s friends along with transport king Peter Abeles, previously big in Ansett which we bought and which then crashed New Zealand for a while! So that type would be among the vested interests that Martyn talks about.

    For the interested – just some headings summarising main points. Their work will be invaluable to Australia and somebody with brains and verve and independent thinking plus practicality here might want to join, with NZ being a junior partner. Damien O’Connor?

  11. I don’t know what people have against the mining industry per se. If we are to achieve a clean, green self sustaining future there’s still going to be plenty of mining going on.

  12. Worse than a Labor government, Aussies will be saddled with a Labor government propped up by crazed ‘teal green’ independents who are sponsored by ultra wealthy donors. Overwhelmingly these candidates are supported by menopausal middle class women whose environment doesn’t extend much beyond their own back yard.

    1. Labour or Labour and Greens will have a majority in the lower house. Labour and Greens or Labour, Greens and the ACT Senator Pocock in the upper house.

      The Teals are placed from 2025 to tame the carbon mining loving/conservative men of the Liberal Party or keep Labour in office for a second term.
