  1. First thing I’ve read that acknowledges that left v right is often irrelevant to local body politics. The good news is that this (lack of) pattern strengthens with smaller councils too

  2. Sorry, it has not cleared up that much for me, as the elephant in the room has only been given some mention earlier in the post. That is Council bureaucrats and those vested business interests that have the money that is needed to get things done (as Council is not Central Goverment or the Reserve Bank- and cannot simply print its own money anyway).

    Left and right do mean little when it comes to many planning decisions, they often only end up being shown in the odd small side show or in token, symbolic actions or refusals for actions.

    Biddable or negotiable will be applicable for most of the lot, wait and see.
