    no. We are our own sovereign country. We don’t owe anyone anything. Let the UN and the superpowers sort it out. Oh, and, the ones who caused it in the first place.

    1. And no one will be able to say they were not aware of the crimes being committed on Palestinians for the past 70 years. But our country is blind to this, some little wimpy statement from Winston and that is it, why, because we must keep in favour with the American govt, who need the bullying Israelis in that part of the world.

  3. We need to be careful condemning Chinas treatment of Hong Kong citizens when we haven’t honoured our own Treaty of Waitangi and we still aren’t.

    1. While no-one would deny that New Zealand’s justice system is far from perfect, especially for Maori, it’s still lightyears better than China’s which has a 99.9% conviction rate.

      And another commenter who clearly has absolutely no idea of what’s really happened in that part of the world.

      Hong Kong is, and has always been, part of China. If you would know how it came to be a British colony, I invite you to go read some history. It’ll enlighten you as to the perfidiousness of Old Blighty – and Uncle Sam, come to that.

      New Zealand and Hong Kong are in no way commensurate situations.
