  1. The Green Party No 1 list candidate, Metiria Turei, is of Maori descent surely?

      1. She is part Maori, the rest is Pakeha and perhaps else. There are few if any true Maori left in NZ, a tattoo alone, does not make you an ethnic and cultural Maori.

  2. Seriously that photo looks like it is a promo shot for the puppets. If the bearded one has his mouth any closer we would risk falling in!

    1. So do you have anything constructive to offer other than just the trolling of a 12 year old, Dave? Your silly snide comments might elicit a giggle from your fellow kiddies over at Whaleoil, but here it just highlights the bankruptcy of your argument. In effect you have NO argument.

No go tidy up your room.

  3. I know as little as you which is obviously near nothing but I thought Chloe from her mayoral campaign was a good fit for the greens.

  4. I agree with the post. Not into SHINY, myself.

Why is Chloe always in the centre in the pics?

    1. @ SAVENZ … because she is a centrist perhaps? Her true place being in the centre.

  5. 29 Electorates being challenged by the Greens. Not an election winning number even if they all – shock, horror – managed to win their seats.

There are 71 seats all up. 64 General + 7 Maori.

And I cannot help but wonder if there is a sense of entitlement thing going with young Chloe. I mean honestly, what has she done?

  7. Thing is, with James Accountant Shaw as Co Leader, they will NOT get more than 11 to 12 percent of the vote, and those new faces, almost all of them will NOT even get into Parliament, possibly never, except perhaps Chloe and one other.

The Greens have clearly moved to the centre, almost right of centre, read their program or policy now, it is not what it used to be.

  8. No sooner have the Greens escaped the stereotype of being old hippies than they are bagged for being too young and good looking.

    1. Those who stereotyped the Greens as “hippies” were never fond of the Greens, they just loved to bag them, and used the appearances of some members and followers for stereotyping and ridiculing.

Those who criticise them for their conformism to present day standards in attire and so now do so for different reasons, they may actually have been quite ok with the label “hippies”.

I guess the ones that do one or the other, are not the same types of critics.

  9. In regards to Hayley Holt – I heard she was very impressive at the Green Party national candidate selection get-together.

  10. At least they don’t look like a morbid bunch of boring old men!

In the last 9 years New Zealand has become boring, selfish, lacking in… whats the word…enthusiasm? optimism…?

The Greens may give the country back ‘some life’

  11. Dear Curwen,
Spot on with this post old chap. And might I say that some of these comments are bang on the money too.

I heard Ghahraman and Swarbrick on Morning Report yesterday morning and neither were able to speak beyond soundbite pleasantries.

For these digital darlings – most of their campaigning is done via instagram, twitter and facebook. It’s less message and more image.

They both of sparkly backgrounds – but how effective are they? What have they actually done?

We must’ve heard different interviews from Parallel Universes, Wikid. The one I heard had good, clear, straight forward responses from both women.

There is a sexist element to your term “digital darlings”.

Considering neither of them are in Parliament (yet), I think that question is a tad premature, don’t you think?

You might as well ask this person what they’ve done to deserve merit; https://s-media-cache-ak0.pinimg.com/736x/a2/e0/25/a2e025b30f2e129672b480a54ecc0b6c.jpg
