After the genocidal war crimes – there must be a Truth and Reconciliation moment in Israel and Palestine
A new survey showing that 82 percent of Jewish Israelis support the expulsion of Gazans was met with disbelief among those who stubbornly believe that the extremists are outliers. But these trends are as consistent as they are shocking
It is no good pretending that the violence and barbarity Israel has perpetrated, with the support of a majority of Israelis, isn’t as much a cultural self-mutilation as it is a war crime against Palestinians.
- The shooting of children by snipers in the head.
- The widespread sexual torture inside Israeli detention centres.
- The pinning of soft toys as trophies from Palestinian children that the bulldozers use when flattening homes.
- The dropping of military grade weaponry on Palestinians in tents, hospitals, homes, schools with the false justification that Hamas was using human shields so shooting through civilians is somehow moral.
- The heavy uranium munitions used and the toxic waste the bombing campaign has forever poisoned GAZA with.
- The brutal zionist settlers violence in the West Bank.
- The use of hunger as a weapon.
- The group punishment mentality.
- The weaponisation of Aid.
All of it adds up to a people whose own tragedy of the Holocaust has warped and mutated them into defending what they are doing in Gaza and the West Bank.
When a people are prepared to justify such horror for their own sense of security, that people become forever damned by such cruel math.
The Palestinians are paying a terrible price in bodies and limbs for their resistance to Occupation, but is the State Israel that has burnt its own soul.
Even if Netanyahu manages to kill every Hamas member in Gaza and the West Bank, even if he cleanses all those places from Palestinians, the price will be more than any of them can pay.
Even if Israel ‘wins’ they will have lost so much that any sense of ‘victory’ will be bitter ashes in their hollow mouths.
When you oppress a people, the oppression doesn’t just change them, it damages you too.
Post this horror, there must be a Truth and Reconciliation moment in Israel about Palestine. The terrible things that have been asked of the IDF can only be healed in the manner of a Truth and Reconciliation moment where the true horror of what Israel has done can be witnessed, apologised for and in some way forgiven because neither the Israeli’s nor the Palestinians will be able to move on from what has been perpetrated in Gaza.
We need to look at setting up Peace Camps at Marae where young people from warring zones can come to NZ as a Peace centre, indeed all Nations need to participate in providing the space where the next generation of Palestinians and Israeli’s can go to and build the bridges that must be built if their great grandchildren are to know peace.

The only ‘peace camp’ that will work is the dissolution of the Zionazi apartheid state Israel and the establishment of a unitary liberal democratic state in all the land between the River Jordan and the Mediterranean Sea in which everyone has equal rights regardless of language, culture, religion, or purported ethnicity, as we have in New Zealand.
Wrong. There must be no Israel, at least not in the Levant. Israel must be either completely dismantled, or relocated to the USA. The latter option will be an interesting exercise in returning the metastasis to the primary malignancy.

While certainly not a complete solution to world peace, you can look down a list of US (and New Zealand) military involvements for the last few decades and most of them (and the vast majority of the combat deaths) would not have occurred had the zionist entity never existed.
