ACT MP asks Parliament to limit use of ‘genocide’ when describing Gaza war
Despite being in a party committed to freedom of speech, Simon Court asked Parliament’s Speaker to consider restricting the use of the word “genocide” to describe what’s happening in Gaza.
ACT MP Simon Court has tried and failed in his bid to seemingly prevent MPs from using the word “genocide” in the debating chamber when referring to Israel’s war in Gaza.
Court raised the matter with Speaker Gerry Brownlee on Tuesday, saying the use of “genocide” risked denigrating the reputation of the House of Representatives.
“This allegation of genocide is made repeatedly in this House by members of the Opposition, and I’m concerned it might lead to violence against Jews in New Zealand,” he told the chamber.
Simon Court seems himself as a free speech champion but like all right wing free speech champions, he is nothing more than a dirty hypocrite.

The Right have always faked their support for free speech and here he is trying to remove the right for Politicians to use the word Genocide to rightfully describe the terrible murder that the Israeli’s have perpetrated against the Palestinians.
Simon represents all that is hypocritical in ACT and he is a disgrace.
The latest TU Poll shows ACT slumping to 6% because when you are a cross burning, banjo twanging redneck, you want your alt-Right culture war hate to be top shelf and NZF are providing that messaging far better than ACT can because David is the Deputy PM who can’t roll around in the sewer the way Winston can.
Court is ranked number 5 on the Party list, but with Allah’s help, if ACT’s vote continues to slide, he could be out on his arse in the next election.

So in your mind, Genocide is just a word that offends you and your cohorts that we really shouldn’t use – diddums! Definition: “Genocide is the intent to destroy a national, ethnic, racial, or religious group, in whole or in part, through specific acts such as killing, causing serious harm, inflicting conditions of life meant to cause destruction, preventing births, or forcibly transferring children. Coined by Raphael Lemkin in 1944.” Genocide clearly means something very different to those of us who have a heart and a soul. Open your eyes you silly man and actually see what is happening here. In all reality I don’t think ACT and its MPs and supporters have any leg room in their Dictatorial requests and demands. After all THEY ONLY GOT 8.64% of the vote but deem themselves Thanks to Weakling Luxon to have 99.9999% of the control of government.
From the Fields to the Debating Chamber ACT shouldn’t think they have the right to Demand Anything. Just like the equally single digit in votes NZ First should expect any Entitlement.

If they could profit handsomely from backing the Palestinian cause, they’d do it in a heartbeat, but they’ve calculated otherwise and so Acacia O’Connor is being binned because she believes the wholesale slaughter of Palestinians is wrong and that doesn’t gel with the image OneNZ prefers to present to the world. Clearly they care more about Winston Peters broken window than they do about genocide.
