  1. Most of this planet has been run by Anglo-America business and political interests (actually there is not much difference between the two), in conjunction with European banking interests, since the early 1800s.

The Second World War gave America the opportunity to let Britain get pummeled, thereby enabling America to take the top spot.

Since 1945 it has been a largely unipolar world, with only the USSR (and now Russia) providing much resistance the banker-corporation agenda of taking over the entire world.

Fortunately America’s time of manipulating and looting the world is almost over. But try getting the idiots, many of the New Zealanders, that think America is ‘great’ to realise that.

  2. Yes my Dad was in this picture when he was a wharf WORKER and on the picket line so after the National Government used the military to shut down the strike my Dad was blacklisted for working around any AUCKLAND SITES GOVERNMENT COULD CONTROL THEN SO HE MOVED US ALL BACK TO HB..

  3. Labour’s Nash…. ‘are not for the waterside workers, and we are not against them’.

I wonder what they would have said about the CIA involvement?
“Not for it, not against it”?.

  4. Following on from taking part in this year’s protest at Waihopai, I wrote to Little asking if they would disband Waihopai, get out of the 5 eyes:

I have recently taken part in the well attended annual protest at the base and am appalled that New Zealand as a sovereign nation spies on behalf of the US on Bangladesh, India, China, Solomon Islands, all south Pacific nations and other countries. None of these countries to my knowledge are enemies of New Zealand.

I think that most of us know none of this spying has anything to do with terrorism but it is to do with global domination of the world.

Like many New Zealanders I want this stopped immediately. We as an independent nation need to form our own foreign policy and not be dictated to by any other country in the world.

Can you please explain to me why your party intends, should it become the government to remain in the ‘5 Eyes Network’.

    His response:
    Thank you…
Labour supports our remaining in the network. In this age of increased security risks it is important we have access to the best information to keep New Zealanders safe.
There should be a limit to what the state does, however. It is important that we strike the right balance between security and privacy, and the rights of New Zealand citizens must be respected.

    Very enlightening isn’t it.

I for one whilst I want to change the government, have no faith in the Labour party.

    1. “Mr Little was asked if New Zealand should stay in Five Eyes after comments made by the US President Donald Trump about sanctioning the torture of terror suspects.
He said Labour supported staying in the network, and that had not changed under Mr Trump’s presidency.

“Five Eyes is about getting information that helps with the security of our nation.

“New Zealanders care about making sure they’re safe and secure.””

No changes there……though I personally don’t think illegally spying on Kim Dotcom makes me feel safer..but then if the FBI tell us we should do something then I guess we better…right Mr Key??

    2. I think it is fair to say that only uninformed (misinformed) fools have faith in the Labour party.

Fortunately for Little and company, most of the general populace are uninformed (misinformed) fools.

  5. Speaking on a part of the legislation which dealt with covert activities, Labour’s finance spokesman Grant Robertson introduced a ” little game” which he learned in his former role as a diplomat.

“If want to create your own spy identity, what you should do is take your middle name and the street where you grew up.”

He showed the other MPs how do it.

“I myself am Murray Pretoria … which I think makes me sound like a South African spy, but that is me.

“So I invite other members of the House to have a think about where they are at in terms of their identity.”

    What. The . Fuck ?!!?

  6. Recently, CIA operatives in NZ have been good at accusing people of. Sing Nazis. They did it at Occupy. Perhaps next they will do it in an attempt to smear those fighting against migrant exploitation on behalf of big business? Stranger things have happened…

  7. One day, in another generation, we can read the revelations about what John Key was planted here for, I guess. He was instrumental in re-establishing the “warm” relationship between the US and NZ, facilitating the future collaboration in the Pacific and wider global affairs, where “the west” (or rather its elite) sees its interests “threatened”.

Times do never change, it seems. Now, I am looking forward to what Nicky Hager has to communicate to us tomorrow.

  8. “New Zealand was ready in 2013 to challenge these mass surveillance powers and the building of an advanced Police State, but since the corporate mainstream media all wrote those concerns off as conspiratorial by denouncing the Moment of Truth, NZers have self censored themselves and allowed silence to rule the day.”

Welcome to Sleepy Hobbits Part 5.

  9. So much for Americans whinging that the ruskies interfered in their election. Karma, my American friends, is a bitch.

  10. Kind of ironic that a bill that claims to protect against “potential threats that may cause serious harm to the … quality of life of the New Zealand population”; causes serious harm to the quality of life of the NZ population.

    1. Participating in the construction of the police state with full enthusiasm, as they’ve been doing since at least the 1980s. Sadly, this is not a problem a change of ruling party in parliament is going to fix.

Maybe we could try a written constitution that enshrines the human rights and civil liberties of NZ citizens, one that the state and its agents are not exempt from, and that can’t be changed by act of parliament? It’s not a silver bullet solution (look at the USA), but it would give us a powerful tool for holding the state to account outside of elections. Drafting a proposed constitution through an open public consultation would be a good start (see: http://constitutionaotearoa.org.nz/), although as with the “crowdsourcing” of a new constitution for Iceland, the real challenge is to go from draft to reality.

  11. Kirk floated a superannuation scheme where a small part of your pay was invested in NZ Govt to use and build NZ.
    That was just not allowed.
    Kirk dies.
Muldoon ran a campaign on destroying the super scheme and the CIA subsidiary “Hanna Barbara” ran the campaign complete with dancing Cossacks on our TR screens.

The CIA had been here for years.

Kirk’s scheme would have NZ as a Lender not borrower and out contributions would have a Govt. backed guarantee unlike the Kiwisaver where the money is all in private hands ready to disappear when a slump hits.
