Defence Minister Chris Penk said New Zealand should have “a conversation” about its long-standing anti-nuclear policy as Australia moves towards acquiring nuclear-powered submarines.
Speaking to Bloomberg Television on the sidelines of the Shangri-La Dialogue in Singapore, Penk said New Zealanders had long been sceptical about nuclear weapons, but “it might be an interesting conversation in terms of the extent to which that’s different to nuclear propulsion”.

Since Nuclear Bombs came into existence we have had World Peace for 80 years .There is local conflicts small snd big up no total all out World War which happened twice.
Is that because they were used twice in Japan (that was after they came into existence) and the major powers all have them? While the differences between people are too large to expect world wide peace there’s still a lot of unnecessary killing going on and the USA is involved in a lot of it, we also know that the world is not going to end in a nuclear war so the presence of nuclear weapons is not what I would describe as a positive influence for peace.
