Allegations of torture and sexual violence inside Israel’s Sde Teiman detention facility are becoming impossible to ignore, with testimony, legal witnesses, human rights investigations and even Israeli media reports painting a horrifying picture.

What are the allegations coming out of Sde Teiman?
A leading human rights group has published testimony of a Palestinian man who says guards in a notorious Israeli detention centre, set a dog to rape him. Collected by the Palestinian Centre for Human Rights (PCHR) the testimony is the most recent of at least four reports of dogs being used in the sexual torture of detainees at the Sde Teiman facility and elsewhere.
A UN commission of inquiry and a report released this week [PDF] the NGO Physicians for Human Rights-Israel (PHRI) have both found that Israel’s use of sexual violence is systemic, serving to “dominate, oppress and destroy the Palestinian people in”.
Completely ignored by New Zealand’s media, Israel’s own press reports corroborate the inquiry’s findings with its national English-speaking daily, Haaretz, reporting in November 2025;
“For Palestinians held within Israel’s prison network, torture, abuse and contempt for life isn’t just the norm, it’s the system”.
The notorious Sde Teiman detention centre, holding up to 4000 Palestinians, after the October 7 attacks, gained global notoriety after footage was leaked of soldiers allegedly gang raping a captive there.
Another who described being raped by a dog spoke of his first weeks at the detention centre, told how he was taken with a group of other detainees to “a place far from the cameras”.
“We were stripped completely. Soldiers brought dogs that climbed on us and urinated on me,” he said. “Then one of the dogs raped me – the dog… inserted its penis into my anus, while the soldiers kept beating and torturing us and spraying pepper spray in our faces.
Another detainee, aged 18, told PCHR that soldiers raped him and other captives using bottles, and that during the ordeal, “there was also a dog behind us, as if the dog was raping us.
Lawyer Witnesses Dog Raping a Detainee
Last year, Palestinian lawyer Fadi Saif al-Din Bakr told the Geneva-based Euro-Med Human Rights Monitor that he witnessed a dog being used to rape someone in Sde Teiman. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kPE6vbKix6A
Soldiers brought him and two others to a cement courtyard, he said in an October 2024 Al Jazeera documentary, then they took one of the other men, beat him, stripped him naked and tied his hands and feet.
“A captain came and sprayed something on his backside,” he said. “There was a dog there. They unleashed the dog on him. The dog raped the young man. It raped him, literally speaking.”
The use of dogs to torture, maim or even kill Palestinian detainees is apparently widespread. A PCHR report includes testimony from a 48-year-old man who was detained at al-Shifa hospital before being taken to a military outpost and then five different detention centres over the course of 56 days.
At one, he said guards set police dogs on him and other detainees, “allowing them to tear into our flesh”. He witnessed a dog mauling another man’s genitals, he said. “He bled to death in my arms.”
Senior IDF Officer leaks Rape Video
Major General Yifat Tomer-Yerushalmi, a former top lawyer in the Israeli military, has been arrested for leaking a video that allegedly shows severe abuse of a Palestinian detainee by Israeli soldiers.
Broadcast in August 2024 on an Israeli news channel, the footage shows reserve soldiers at the Sde Teiman military base in southern Israel taking aside a detainee, then surrounding him with riot shields to block visibility while he was allegedly beaten and stabbed in the rectum with a sharp object.
The video is regarded as concrete evidence backing up multiple reports of abuse of Palestinian detainees since the Hamas-led 7 October 2023 attacks on Israel.
Last October, a UN commission of inquiry report alleged that thousands of child and adult detainees from Gaza had been “subjected to widespread and systematic abuse, physical and psychological violence, and sexual and gender-based violence amounting to the war crime and crime against humanity of torture and the war crime of rape and other forms of sexual violence”.
Israel denies systematic abuse despite mounting evidence
Israel’s government said it rejected the accusations of widespread ill-treatment and torture of detainees, and insisted that it was “fully committed to international legal standards”. It also said it had carried out thorough investigations into every complaint.
Dogs in the military’s specialised canine unit, Oketz, are almost entirely sourced from Europe, according to John Spencer, a researcher who has embedded with the IDF. Between October 2023 and February 2025, police dog companies in the Netherlands were granted veterinary certificates allowing them to export of at least 110 dogs to Israel, according to the Center for Research on Multinationals. The vast majority of those licenses were granted to a company called Four Winds K9, it added.
“They know once they rape someone with a dog or with a stick that these people won’t be able to carry out their jobs or live their lives normally,”
Basel Alsourani, international advocacy officer at PCHR, told Novara Media. “It’s part of their genocidal intention to destroy [Palestinians] – They know once they rape someone with a dog or with a stick that these people won’t be able to carry out their jobs or live their lives normally,”

Russia, China and the US do not support the prosecution of Israel for committing genocide, because genocide is the ultimate tool in their tool kit, Russia and China and the US cannot afford to see genocide deligitimised on the world stage at the Internaitonal Court of Justice.

The new government elect of Peter Magyer has vowed to rejoin the International Criminal Court and abide by the ICC arrest warrant for Benjamin Netanyahu, Based on this reversal, it is likely that the new governement of Hungary will also reverse the outgoing government’s decision to intervene in support of Israel in the ICJ case, further isolating Israel on the world stage.

The answer is simple; Israel is America’s unsinkable aircraft carrier in the Middle East that allows the US and the West generally to control the region with the richest oil fields in the world. As Joe Biden once said, “If Israel didn’t exist, we would have to invent it”
